WHavoc Posted September 21, 2012 Author Share Posted September 21, 2012 For me personally I will be focusing most of my actual modding work on two primary projects (sunset and mars) and story/plot lines for secondary projects (caravan, ghost warriors, Emrald city shopping center, gamma world, dark tower etc), and will also be slowing down on requests. Wow, quite a few mods under your belt huh? Well that is fine, I understand. I will continue working on mine, and we can continue to discuss ideas. Other than that, two separate mods it is! If you ever need any help with your other mods, just ask. I would be more than willing to lend a hand, assuming I have time. I would probably be most useful in writing, creating textures, or designing levels. No worries, I think we will find our styles are very different. Very true, and that is a great thing. First there's a nifty decontamination door model set (also the ever-present Speedy's resource pack, it's a gold mine) to possibly use. Second, more thematically, perhaps one could look into Bioshock infinite? It's fifty years early (turn of the century steampunk) but there's still plenty of wiggle room, and, frankly, a lot of the issues in the early 1900s (sexism, imperialism, excessive capitalism, racism, american exceptionalism etc.) echoed down later, especially if you have a McCarthy-ist xenophobic fallout society... Thank you very much for that! - I have never played any of the Bioshock games, but that might be something to look into. I have seen the atmosphere. I need to edit the speed of a functional door. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, are there any elements that people would like to see in the vault city? Such as a casino, or a movie theater? Usually it's just a script with some functions like GetButtonPressed to select floors. I'd recommend you just "simulate" the movement, because the only person I know of that working on elevators & platforms with real movement is Ermeso (you can check out his beta vehicle mod here). I think the animations are sort of set, because they were baked into the nif. Usually there are a few (like "playgroup forward" and "playgroup backward" which is just the reverse of the animation).....should't be hard to change in blender ( I havn't quite gotten to that level yet though). But if your talking in nifskope, those can be complicated. You will want to look under the NiControllerManager & NiControllerSequence. But honestly that's probably a question that one of the nifgods on this board would be better suited to answer, I wouldn't recommend you delve into it. But start at playgroup, AnimGroups, etc. They are mostly for critters (rigged nifs) but some also applies to animated nifs. Also, are there any elements that people would like to see in the vault city? Such as a casino, or a movie theater? Anything else? Anyone else? For example, on mine I was thinking they must have someplace they dump their radioactive wastes, maybe a crevice or unused tunnel as far from the main vault's living area as possible. Maybe they dispose of their dead there too....and just maybe peeps that aren't completely dead (doctors make mistakes) become irradiated/ghoulified. And maybe sometimes disposal workers swear they hear something down there.........some even swear there looks like there is marks on some of the bones, or caskets have been opened..... Use equal powers ie 512x512, unequal textures like 512x1024 don't work. Lots of PD free textures out there if your willing to hunt them down. Anything in particular you curious about? And what about making a waterfall? Thanks. There is a lots of effects in the geck itself. See how they have the rushing water in the giant pipes at the basement level of hoover dam for instance. Those are excellent ideas! Do I detect an M. Night Shyamalan moment? I cant wait to see that. I like the idea of a disposal/sewage system. For this mod I was thinking I might do something like Logan's Run. Do you happen to be familiar with that (it is an older film)? If not, it just means that most of the vault dwellers will be killed at age thirty or forty, in order to maintain the ideal vault population. Some of the dwellers will be kept alive as leaders and advisers, but the rest will be executed and cycled into the ground or cremated ("Bring out your dead!"). I am not sure what I would want to do with nuclear waste though... I would like to think that they figured out a way to properly dispose of it. Don't worry I am not entirely computer retarded... ;) I have both gimp and photoshop, my profession requires them. lol. I have also subscribed to some websites that have watermark free, royalty free images. I was just wondering if there was any particular method, because some of my textures keep turning out bad... Yes we've discussed something along those lines in the mars mod in regard to teh clones/vault colony. But if your going to go all out, you may want to check out the books. They are *much* more extensive than the movie. I think in the last book Logan goes to a space station. Browse the wiki, interesting stuff. Still lacking some detail, needs decoration, function, and lighting, but the shape is there. Also lacking decoration, lighting is iffy, but I am currently busy with real life, so I think it is good progress.
