Nice work guys - and nice to see Giskard reappear here too.

** Just as i was about to download OOMG it disappeared!! **

Anyway, never tried this before as ive just used FCOM as that was hard enough. But do have TEC and TEC Temple of One and a couple others.

This sounds great and true compatiblity with FCOM is a must for me, hope it does what it says on the tin!

Brilliant mod thanks again

Well if it does not, you can have your money back :D

Fcom users report improved stability after installing CUO btw. Check the comments here on nexus and on our forum. No real issues yet after 2 weeks. It literally seems to be rock solid stable for people like me that like stable games and work to keep it that way and a vast improvement for those who are not so fussy and expect a few crashes as you seem to do.

By the way, Giskarduk, there's a question in my head i wanted to ask you for a long time. I truly love your work and your team's work, it adds so much depth to Oblivion ! I use all your mods (even those not released anymore) and i couldn't play Oblivion without them anymore. But the thing is that I'm french, my Oblivion is in french and your mods are in english (not that it's a problem, heh ! ;) ). I was wondering if you ever planned to release your mods in other languages.

If no, would you like to consider it and may i bring my help ? My level of english i pretty good i think, as my level in french. I don't know anything about modding, so my role would just be to translate the text in the most accurate form possible and then you and/or your team would integrate it back into the mod. It would also make you sure that i don't modify anything in your mods ;) and you could keep all the credits for creating such great mods ! it's just that i know many people who play Oblivion in french and don't understand english enough to fully appreciate the amount of work you put in mods such as Kvatch aftermath or Cyrodiil Upgrade... and that would be a way for me to thank you of your amazing job.

If you're interested by the concept, don't hesitate to answer me here or contact me by MP.

Yeah I will be expecting a full refund of the time invested in the download, by you, at my house. Fixing my Oblivion :)

No seriously that is great news. I am just in the middle of reinstalling all mods + Oblivion and getting rid of Better Cities and Deadly Reflex + few others due to compatibility problems.

So I will load this straight after FCOM, sure it will become a "must have" very soon.

Will leave feedback once installed and tested, but just from the release notes looks fantastic.

Especially the new dialogue lines for factions. Mods for me have to be Lore Friendly, or at least try to be.

Thanks again

EDIT:

And yes Giskard, ever since my first mod was installed ive come to expect crashes/faults. So if this mod actually ELIMINATES some or at least helps to stop other mods from the causing them. That will be quite impressive.

Hell i might even donate some money!

Althought i have just been made redundant from the credit crunch. F**** capitalism.

My mods are available in several languages, including french but i usually let translators, first translate them and then continue developing them rather than have them constrantly translating updates i make. This means foriegn language versions may be developed independantly of my own work with my blessing. That is the message ive sent to every mod maker that game to me asking to translate 1 of my mods.

MrCooper2006:

A user asked about leveled lists and CUO and whilst all overhauls edit these and thus one has to be the one to control them all, eg you must choose one, our reasons for working our way and not going the bash route are worth explaining since as mod makers, we have concerns the patch makers have never cared about.

The kind of merging your talking about leads to Lion mods getting merged with Lamb Mods, both carefully balanced by the original mod maker. But after merging the player believes he gets lions and lambs in his game but all he got was a lot of stuffed Lions because the lions ate the lambs.

This may sound realistic but if the lambs where part of a farm and the farm now only contains fat lions stuffed to the brim on lamb and farmer meat, then the whole point of having a farm mod disappears.

This is the down side to the system others use and why we do not work that way. We have a different system completely and the willpower to ballance it correctly to maintain game integrity.

You see, we call those issues massive conflicts, others call them a minor bug or compatible. But hay we are the sort of mod makers that spends months making lion and lamb mods, they are the sort of patch makers than spend 5 minutes destroying them.

So we have vastly different opinions on it than others do.

So please do not measure us by other overhauls standards because our overhaul is made with a completely different philosophy in mind.

Have a read of this.

I spend months ballancing the game so it all works, our system ensures it stays ballanced the way the mod maker wants it to be ballanced basically.

I often hear this next line a lot and i happen to think it is wrong to blindly accept these things, it leads to sloppy standards. We all make mistakes but the attempt to prevent these issues from occuring is often as important as fixing them after they appear.

Anyway this is one of the most common lines i see on a forum.

"My game works great, no major problems at all. Except for the odd crash with mod blarr blarr and and a few issues with blar blar"

One guy actually said the same thing on my website today and it made me remember how common it is for people to say they have no problems in one breath and then explain the exceptions in the next.

I keep thinking how my own opinion about what constitutes "No Major Problems" is far different from other peoples it seems.

For example, I have a problem quitting my game, that is my only problem in my regular game.

But in normal game play, I could turn off auto save and run around Cyrodiil all day for hours and hours without a single crash or problem.

And that is my version of what "No Major Problems" means. But to many players, "no major problems" means, "works for an hour without crashing".

That is just something I have noticed on oblivion forums, thought i would mention it.

I did realize today that it gives me a massive advantage when testing a mod to have a stable platform to start with. I mean, if your making a mod and your computer is crashing all the time, then how do you know what is a mod problem and what is something else ?

But when your computer is rock solid stable, and your working on a mod, any crashes are your mods fault so that is one problem that never arises.

I should have thought about that before but for some reason it was one of those things i just took for granted.

Exactly. So when I was recently working on a mod and I had a CTD I was tracking down that maggot - and found it: missing normal map. Easy peasy.

Giskarduk> thanks a lot for your answer. How come that i've never seen any of your mods translated in french ? Maybe the translated versions are available only on your private forum. If yes, then i understand why i can't remember seeing them. If no, do you know where i can find them ? Anyway, it's nice to see that it's been translated already. Keep up the good work !
