Fungaltoothpaste
Hi,I've run into a bit of a problem. I'm running a bunch of mods and my game is starting to act up in weird ways (No title/pause menu screen, missing sounds from guns and npcs, effects not working occasionally.I've got loot and FNV edit but the only thing showing up in their directories is the base game and dlcs. I tried to create a merged patch and but it won't show up in in FOMM just loot and FNV edit.I did have to re download FNV at one point but that was a while ago. I'm still a bit of a noob in modding so if you need more info let me know.
dubiousintent
FOMM only lists the mods you have installed with it. It places the plugin files from those mods in the game "Data" folder. So does "Wrye Bash". Most (I would say all but I don't know about "all" other mod managers; just the main ones used with FNV such as NMM, MO, MO2, and Vortex) work from the concept of an "empty Data Folder" and "profiles". They place "symbolic links" to those files in the "Data" folder when you start a game session using a given profile. From the sound of things, you seem to be using more than one mod manager. If you do, then that would explain the "missing files" for FOMM, LOOT, and FNVEdit. They are all "tools" looking for files in the "Data" folder and if you are running them from outside of that mod manager, it is unpopulated because you aren't using a current "profile". You can use multiple mod managers, but you need to understand how each of them works. And there are some potential conflicts possible, most notably the use of "ArchiveInvalidation". You should only use the mechanism from one manager as they each have an arbitrary filename that is not standard between them, so they end up conflicting. I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. All of the above points are covered there, along with links to various tutorials for each of the mentioned managers. [Edit] BTW, for future reference: Please provide ALL the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. Don't forget to identify things that do not appear in the "load order", such as if you are using a "regional language version" of the game (even if you are playing it in English); using the FNV4GB Patch, NVSE and it's related plugins; replacements for textures (specifically their larger image sizes: 1024x1024, etc.), animations, or "bodies", etc.; and "post-processors" like ENB or SweetFX. It saves us playing "20 questions" and gets you a more specific answer more quickly. (The usual turn-around on post and reply in an older game forum is 24 hours.)* See "How to markup images (etc) in forum posts and comments" article for how to use "Spoiler tags". LOOT already includes those tags in the "load order" it copies to your clipboard, so you can just paste it's list into your post. -Dubious-

I think a tried a few others but i got rid of them a long time ago(Over a year). I'm playing on an older gaming laptop, probably from 2012 or so it looks like it still has plenty of free space and I expect most of my ingame stutter comes from running so many mods. It did get repaired recently though. I have NVSE, and 4GB(I think, not sure I got that to work, but I assume I did since a lot of my mods are pretty big.) I got my copy from GOG here in america. SO I guess it's the english version. I am using a few body replacers for some of the companions and a few graphical stuff but nothing really big. I did notice that its linking to my data in the new vegas folder but I don't know how to get it to FOMM. I'm sorry for if I was too brief. I don't use forums very often.Would you like me to post my load order? Edited August 4, 2019 by Fungaltoothpaste
dubiousintent
So, this isn't a recent install of the game? You had everything working correctly before and now you suddenly do not see a bunch of mods in FOMM that had previously been present? And this is only since you had the machine "repaired"? If all of that is true, then it sounds like you had a drive problem and need to 1) run "chkdsk", and 2) re-install the missing mods. Only after they are all present is your "load order" relevant. If that is not true, then we need to break down the various symptoms into discrete problems and resolve them one at a time. Getting a clear sequence of the development of events is part of that process. * Be aware that one error may mask a number of other errors, which will not appear until those masking them have been resolved. Building a stable game consists of resolving each problem individually until none remain, and then realizing that every change you make thereafter (including updates to mods already installed) run the risk of introducing new problems. Be prepared to revert to a previous save if you do so.First problem is "missing mods". That has been my focus so far as everything else is likely a consequence of that. Second is your list of "acting up in weird ways". If you are trying to resume a "saved game" but are missing mods, then that is explained. OTOH, if you have all your mods, the most likely cause is "too many plugins". In case you don't know, the "active plugin cap" for FNV is roughly between 128-140 plugin files (not "mods") depending upon the hardware and mix of mods. Stuttering is a distant third in priority. I was hoping to create a merge patch or something but nothing shows up in FNV edit and Loot but where my plugins aren't showing up.I'll try to remove some more of the plugins, I think I have a little over a hundred but I will check.I will also try running that chkdsk thing you were talking about
dubiousintent
The "cap" is roughly 128-140 plugins, depending. If you have fewer than 128 you shouldn't be worried about how many you have active. But be sure to move any "inactive" plugins out of the "Data" folder as they will count against the cap. (This is under the "Common Problems" linked in my last response.) If your problems with missing files only started several weeks after getting your box repaired, then the most likely cause is either a hard disk problem (which "chkdsk" should fix) or malware deleting things. But even more likely is that you are simply not looking in the correct location with the tools that are not finding them. If your mods are being listed in FOMM, then what are you doing when you say you see them missing? You mention FNVEdit and LOOT. They look at the files in your game "Data" folder, which is the same place FOMM installs them. (You should be able to "double-check" this by looking in that folder using "Windows File/Explorer".) If the other two programs aren't seeing them where FOMM has them installed, then you need to determine where they are looking for the files. You might need to re-install LOOT and FNVEdit. There are links to tutorials on FOMM under the 'Mod Managers' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. -Dubious-
