Character Suddenly Not Visible In Third Perso

Played Skyrim SE all day yesterday....everything was working smoothly. Loaded up the game today and my character is not showing in third person. In First person, I can see her sword and shield and her doing any and all actions. I've searched the web and found a variety of conditions where people's characters are like "ghosts" with some aspects visible. This is not like that. I have no "active effects" like when you can use invisibility potions (but can still see a blurry representation of your character) This is not like that. Armour is only visible when in First Person. Not in third person. I tried being naked. I tried different armours. I tried swimming. (I can see her effect on the water, but nothing is there). When I ride my horse the horse is there, but my character isn't.

I also competed the quest for the Mage's College where you get turned invisible a LONG time ago, so it's not a result of that.

I also tried fast travel. I tried going back days of saves. No difference.

I do have mods....but I have had these mods since Level 2 (I'm at level 55) and have not changed or added or removed mods since at least Level 6. My character is simply not there, or even remotely detectable when in Third Person. Any help would be appreciated

Strange thing.....I just tried to start a new game, and at the character creation menu after you get to Helgen shows MALE characters no problem. But as soon as I put the "sex" slider to "female, any characters disappear - no female characters will show. Male characters show up just fine. I tried to load a preset I had saved ) I have RaceMenu and even tried to load my character's preset I saved but nothing happened. I think I may have to completely reinstall the game.... :sad:

 

EDIT: I tried something..... I loaded the game without SKSE (loading the game from the vanilla executable).....and my character appeared as normal. So it has something to do with the Script Extender or a mod that uses it.

As I said, that did not work. I even tried starting a new game to see what would happen. When I got to the character selection screen when you arrive in Helgen, I could NOT see any female characters. Of any race colour or creed. Male characters show just fine, but as soon as I put the slider to female, the portrait screen disappears. I tried loading my character's RaceMenu preset, and ......nothing.

FWIW, I found this. idk if it will help but it's something to try. Look down into the article until someone presents a list of console "player.sme" commands. Perhaps something you drank something that didn't clear, or a hung spell is causing your invisibility issue.

there are a couple of other suggestions in that post too that might be worth pursuing. Or might lead you where you need to be.

 

not quite the same but I've had to clear both Draugur Eyes (glowing blue) and a flaming trail I somehow acquired from an Astronach... It was aggravating, but not nearly as annoying as being invisible probably is.

Update: Got it to come back. I think there was something to do with not having the newest version of SKSE64 and conflicting with Racemenu.....or something, Anyway, I can now see my chracter in Third Person again. Trouble is her CBBE body now no longer has physics. Mod list is exactly as it was - nothing added or removed.

from your comment on updating SKSE... I'm guessing that your game recently updated to 1.5.80. If so, have you reviewed all your other mods? I had to update around two dozen after the game and SKSE update.

 

if I'm telling you things you already know, sorry, my bad. the SKSE64 comment ...

 

and If not...fwiw, check the "Conversion tracking" thread for Special edition ( at LL ) for a full listing of 1.5.80/2.0.16 compliant updates. And if you were are running HDT Physics framework, you'll probably need to replace that with HTD SMP framework

Hey, thanks so much....very helpful. I'm actually using CBP Physics. Now you mentioned updating other mods. I had to update RaceMenu, which I thought was the culprit, but it hasn't affected the physics problem. Any suggestions as to what other mods would be affected that relate to physics? BodySlide or CBBE need to be updated? I usually check through Vortex, but I haven't seen any new versions of those yet.
