Blades seem a little out of place

To me even if the Blades where not apart of the Empire military complex. The armor should have some similarity to the rest of empire. The technology would be some what the same in regaurds to the armor through out the empire. I know its a fantasy game, but realism point is need here.

Off topic or not, there's no denying - this is one of the most interesting threads I have stumbled apon. Makes you wonder if the design team deliberately tried NOT to emulate or replicate a former power.

 

Now I feel like paying Caesar III all over :biggrin:

For me, I just think that there are too few Blades for them to be the "elites". Also, their armor design is not good. from looks alone, it wouldn't give enough protection. With hte legion armor, you're surrounded by plate armor. With the Blade armor, only your chest and head is protected well.

well on the topic of playing other games have been playing Medieval Total War 2 for last week or so... Ever time I want to play oblivion I get on here have one the best forum conversation, I have had in long time. Then go back to MTW 2, Holy Roman Empire take over Europe....

 

 

they all emulate the one, The chosen...ect... all RPG do, or at least most. They emulate a core idea

The Blades are the remnants of the Akaviri Dragonguard and that is why they have eastern feel (I think). You really should read more of the in-game texts to find out about these things. Although I submit, you'd think they would have changed their armour after so long. Arour designs would surely get better. I think that the Olivion design team might have tried to make a point that the Blades are not an arm of the government, and so are different. But it still sucks a bit. Being elite soldiers they should have better armour, plus if you go nuts and actually fight them you'll find that Legion guards are tougher.

still goes back to what a lot of us have been saying on here. As an empire would think that there would be some link between legion and this imperial guard armor technology. Regarding the fact that legion has a superior armor design to the blades. That armor as someone has already state give the user little to none protection. As an elite unit they, would have the best the empire would have to offer. I am not talking about deadric armor, but what the empire produces, which is plate and chain.

 

As both Bben and Jaysus have stated that those types of royal/imperial guard might be a little different, but the technology remains some what the same to there host nation. Yes, again I know it fantasy game.. but what should it be any different. So many mods out there, try to make it a little more realistic game.

 

 

the only thing that left is the home of blades... Cloud ruler inn, not much of anything to respect nor to defend. If the heir is so important, why would not put him into some sort of citadel. Leaving him to the care a few elite soldiers, and why there isnt a citadel for general operation for the legion is beyond me. there is nothing in the that show imperial might, recruiting post, naval ship yards. It almost like where is this war machine that conquest all the lands. It had to have starting point! That one of the things that bugs me the most there isnt a visual presents of this power. Only in the Imperial city you see it, just a little of it. Should Anvil have some short of Naval Shipyard are or even Admiralty headquarters for imperial fleet. In the game to see the imperial city in the distance and then see the citadel watch over the city, would be wonderful sight and it would help in my mind to complete the game a little.

I never felt really safe at cloud ruler temple, you would think that there is at least some sort of daedra that can levitate or at least climb walls!
