How to enjoy Morrowind

Of all the points suggested to enhance Morrowind playing experience, I can't really follow one of them: the constant hoping. Or running.

I suspect I could get very bored by not jumping or running (especialy those characters who start with 5 acrobatics, 5 athletics and 30 speed).

I have no objection to using the glitch that lets me do all the Hlaalu quests as well as the Redoran/Hlaalu ones.

I use the console for two controls 'ra' for when the wretched silt strider operatives have decided to operate at ground roots level or someone has waltzed into a rock. And 'fixme' when I can't get around some irritating NPC or I get stuck in a rock!

I try not to train except a little at the beginning but up my stats by genuine activity. In some cases I find this too boring (sneak for instance) and those I will train.

Set the difficulty slider at 100 from the beginning for a decent challenge early on.

setting the slider to 100 is something that I may try at some future time. For now I am haveing trouble keeping one cartacter for any lenght of time. The reason...MOD'S!! I would start one and then visit this site or summit and see some really interesting mod and download it and start a new caracter :P . Better bodies has to be one of my favorites, it makes the females soooo much better to look at ( I even had a female pc for a little while, till I got bit by the mod bug agine). Now I am trying to make my own mod, because I think that is another way to really enjoy morrowind, it has so much to offer to those who just don't know when to leave someting alone hehehehe

Its actually fun to do what your character would normally do.. like if you are a mage or somethin along those lines.. go and collect ingredients and store them in your house and set up a little labratory to make your items.. or if your a warrior, collect the helmets of all your major enemies as trophies and display them in your house.

I like to think myself a Morrowind purist and these are the guidelines I reckon u should stick to!!

1) Console - No, not for anything except if you jump/drop into a clipping error in the game, use to free yourself. Thats all.

2) Saving - Don't use quick save/quick load. Ur living ur life you can't try things over and over, deal with the consequences of your actions. Only save when u exit the game or use the autosaves u get when u sleep.

3) Uber weapons / enchantments, if you've worked for all that gold and that major Soul gem, why can't you spend it in any way you see fit, if you were rich in real life you'd get good stuff...

4) Trying to raise levels, me being a magic based character, if I wanted to practice my magic thats exactly what I'd do. I'd be trying to cast spells all the time to improve my skill. In real(morrowind) life I should think thats what magicians do... practice... same goes for running etc.

5) Planning levels, if you want to be stronger you train on skills that improve your strength, just in the same way that if I wanted to be a long distance runner, i'd go out joggin every day...

Just my 2ps worth!

But in that case, if you played morrowind for 5 hours and passed a million quests, and then died, wouldn't it be just too boring to go through the same stuff again  ?

Five hours of playing Morrowind, one million quests completed, and your character hasn't even slept once? He must be very resistent to sleep! ;)

Actually I disagree with the idea of not saving. Firstly, because Morrowind crashes periodically, you would be constantly going back to the start - unless you sleep very often near the beginning of the game which is unlikely as you tend not to level up too quickly at first. (And I only ever rest to level up, I use potions to keep my health and fatigue reasonable at the beginning). Secondly the annoying habit your escortees have of letting you kill them by accident is IMO a game failing nothing to do with your own decision. If you are too weak to protect them from a cliff racer that is a different matter.

I don't think not saving brings realism, merely frustration!

Fair I see your point on the crash aspect even tho it hardly ever happens on mine?? The point I was getting at really is:

QuikSave before entering a Tomb, okay well n good. But folks that save once they've cleared one room, then save when they clear the next, then the next etc... just makes the game too easy?? You'll live your life NEVER taking a knockback, NEVER getting to the stage where you've ran out of potions, redlining on your health and you're trying to get somewhere to recouperate... that was what I was getting at... most folks just "Oh poo, F9"...

Just take the consequences of your actions! Thats my point, if you get caught thieving/pickpocketing is a prime example...
