adamanweiler
Ok, For all ya'll that know more about modding than I do (many most likely) I have a mod that I have been working on, and am pretty well finished, when I went to test the mod I found a serious problem. I seems to stop the game, any missiond you were on now will not progress any farther, new missions will not start. the only types of missions that continue are the ones that don't end like bringing scrap metal to walter, bringing book to Scribe Yearling, etc. I know the problem is with my mod, I beleive the problem is somewhere within the dialog, but I can't find anything that would cause such a problem. I think the answer is probobly sinple, I just can't find it, does anyone have an idea, or know what the problem is? I greatly appriciate any and all help given
GrindedStone
Is it small enough to .rar an attach to this page, less than 250k. Mind, you don't need to .rar the assets like meshes an textures just the .esm or .esp. Then if you wanted to try something while you wait for someone to look at it. First go to your data folder, copy your mod, an place that in a folder on the desktop temporary as a backup copy. It's good practice to do that from time to time because no doubt you will end up breaking it. After you gots a backup then launch FO3 edit, uncheck everything, select only your mod, hit okay, wait for it to load an say done. Right click the left window where the mods are displayed an apply filter, you only want the conflict inherited by parent selected, hit filter an wait for it to finish. Right click your mod, remove identical to master records, wait a second or two depending on how fast your computer is, right click the mod again, undelete an disable references, right click the left box or mod an remove the filter, right click the mod an clean masters, right click the mod an sort masters. That is the basic cleaning of a mod before you upload it, you know the one that every modder forgets an thus 50% of mods you download end up dirty an cause crashing among other issues. *hint* the main reasons fallout crashes all the time. Try the mod again, an see if it's still broken. Then it would be the time to start a new game an test it upon a new save game from the various problems caused by autocorrected partially/fully corrupted save game data. You could also do this on the original uncleaned version, see if it works on a new game start. 1. Duplicate the issue, because random issues are harder to fix. 2. Duplicate the issue after starting a new game to see if it's related to save game data. 3. Narrow down the problem starting with easy stupid things moving toward more complex possible causes. 4. Isolate and repair, play test.
