Ftinschert
Hi guys,I'm trying to figure out an issue I'm having in W3 in low light situations. (Preface: I use W3EE, PLM Ultimate & Halk Hogan's HDRP) It occurs only in dark settings, the darker, the worse the issue. Essentially skin textures get "blocky" looking, as in you see straight lines turning an arm into a collection of rectangular shapes. In brighter settings, everything looks normal. In the same low light circumstances, I hair and clothes also start showing what looks like some form of heavy color banding. Initially I thought this was why the developers added the artificial cutscene lighting (which PLM removes) but nobody else in the PLM comment section seems to be having this issue and the mod creator replied that it's "an issue with [my] game". So I'm trying to figure out what it is or if anybody else has run into this. Below are block-skin Geralt & Keira Metz and Keira with not so beautiful low light ink splash hair:
l2dde
I encountered exactly the same issue. It seems the problem is related to the in-game "ambient occlusion" setting (at least for NVIDIA graphics cards owners): I had AO set on "SSAO" and as soon as I switched it to HBAO+ the graphical glitches were gone. I believe HBAO+ needs a stronger machine, so turning AO off would solve the problem for less powerful GPUs as well. For me HBAO+ was OK.
