mellowstanlowe
So I started the Knights Of The Nine quest. But for some reason, in the factions bar on Nine Divines, it says I'm a layman and there's no picture beside it. WTF. Aren't I supposed to be a Pilgrim? How do I fix this? Do I need to finish the entire quest line first?
dezdimona
The concept of describing something in layman’s terms has come into wide use in the English speaking world. To put something in layman’s terms is to describe a complex or technical issue using words and terms that the average individual (someone without professional training in the subject area) can understand, so that they may comprehend the issue to some degree. An explicitly gender neutral version of the word is layperson.

mellowstanlowe
Nvm. I just deleted the pilgrim faction. I did talk to the dude, etc. Did everything I was supposed to do. Someone said it was a conflict with some of my other mods. Apparently it didn't update the faction ranks when I installed KoTN. See, in generic Oblivion, the Divine Nines faction had the rank 'Layman' as the first stage. In KoTN, it was supposed to change it to 'Pilgrim'. It didn't. That's why when I got the Divine Nine rank, it gave me the generic NPC rank. As for dezdimona, I think you're deliberately trying to be an @$$. pedantic
Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I believe you become a Pilgrim after walking the pilgrim's way. It kinda makes sense if you dwell on it for a moment. BTW ... dez is quite correct, sadly we now live in a politically correct world. Love your sig dez
