[LE] Changing creature color

Hey guys!

I'm a complete beginner who literally just installed the Creation Kit a few minutes ago.

My girlfriend loves this game on ps4, but she dislikes the selection of horses.

She really loves black horses, but the closest she gets is the dark brown horse that can be bought in whiterun, which is the same exact horse model used for Shadowmere (except the glowing red eyes).

We tried getting the Wild Horses of Skyrim from CC, but even the black horse there is gray spotted.

Basically I want to make a PS4-friendly mod that simply changes the color of horse fur to at least a really dark brown. I've tried searching around on google, but no dice. I will of course keep searching, but I figured I'd ask here at least to see if I could skip a few dozen hours of trial and error.

Edit: Ok, after a few more hours of searching I have concluded that recoloring the "skin" of horses is pretty much impossible to do on ps4, as it would turn the skin into an external asset, besides being painfully complicated. However, I have also seen that it is possible to change the color of weapons and armor, even on PS4, so maybe there is a way to change external influence, like turning down how much light affects the actor? This one mod turned deadric armor into some sort of chrome-like variant, and I've seen clear signs of clothes and armor changing color completely (although I will admit that it looks a bit wierd, but I take what I can get at this point).

Skins come from textures ... textures can be recolored.
Gimp (free) can help you with the dss format or Photoshop.

However getting from here to there will take some skills in modding.
Maybe this will help .... https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/339/?
Or this ,,, https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Shadowmere-in-Skyrim

I honestly don't know anything about ps4 mods or how they differ from PC mods ...
On a PC this could be done without even creating a mod by simply dropping a recolored skin (.dss file)
in the appropriate folder. The game would use that skin in place of a skin already in the game.
Which is most likely how the mod I referred to did it then packed it up in mod format.
Skyrim will use whatever you put in the appropriate folder by the same name before using the packed version in the .bsa file.

If this is just a case of wanting a black horse I'd ask her how she feels about red eyes. After all Shadowmere would stomp a mudhole

in any other house you could buy in game.
