Something Bad Happened

At around 11:30 pm Indiana Time, Saturday, April 24th 2004 my dear, and one of my best friends, Billy Palinski, age 20 (he just turned 20 four days prior) passed away due to a ruptured spleen. He was the most magnificent human beings I have ever known to walk on earth, and I'm not just saying that to be sentimental, he truely was. I don't really know why I'm posting this, other than I know that this online community is unlike any other I've been involved with. I would really appreciate any condolences you might have as I and those who knew him haven't slept since or really eaten anything since we were told the tragic news.

The death of a young person is always a tragedy and the death of a friend especially at an age when you could have expected to be able to be in contact for years to come is traumatic. As with any friend their death takes from you a raft of shared experiences that now can me nothing except to you.

It takes about two years to get over the loss of someone close but it helps to realise that showing emotion is not a weakness.

If my generalised sympathy helps too, then you have it.

It is indeed hard to see someone young die, an uncle of mine died in February. Sad enough he was only 42 (older as your best friend but still too young). The cancer grew quicker as the treatments could remove it so his death was expected, he died slowly in his sleep luckyly.

I offer my condolances, good luck but try to go on with your life though:( .

Now since I am young, I've never really had anyone (friendwise) die... But my father lost his best friend when they were in their early 20's due to aids... So i know how it must feel... By the sounds of it Billy Palinski was well liked... and i wish you and everyone that knew him, the strength they need to over come this tragic loss..

I've seen a fair amount of untimely deaths and near misses in my short lifetime. When I was about 7 or 8, I found one of my best friends (he was 17) dead in the school weight room, 150 pound barbells crushing his throat. I was waiting for him to give me a ride home after school, and just moments before I found him, I had been joking with my other friends about why he was late. I never quite recovered from that. He was very much like a big brother to me. I had known him all my life up to that point, and for me of all people to find him like that was very… well. However some good did come of it. It is now against the law in Minnesota for students to lift free-weights without a spotter (before this incident, it was only a rule in the schools, without the backing of law).

I do know what it is like to loose a close friend, and you have my deepest sympathies.

It really sucks...

I have a sad story too:

My girlfriend told me about a friend she had when she was 7 or 8. He was run over a truck and there wasn't even criminal charges!!!! It's injustice.
