Blender, Nifskope

Can anybody tell me what tools or extensions are needed with blender and nifskope to import custom items into SSE? I have a mod I was working on a few years ago but the tools weren't available yet. It would be nice to get back to work on it. Also, a guide to making glow maps would be excellent too.

TBH, I always worked with "Oldrim" as an "intermediate stop". So I don't know too much about exporting directly to SE.

General advice: Don't use the NIF-Plugin for Blender (don't know if it ever got updated for SE anyway...). This will save you a lot of headaches....

Nifskope 2.x versions can import meshes in OBJ format. And Blender can export to OBJ.

I know a lot of people also use "Outfit Studio" (part of "Bodyslide", available here on the Nexus) for importing. AFAIK, it can read OBJ and FBX.

Glow maps in general are quite easy: They are basically b/w images, white means "glow", black means "no glow". You can create them from a diffuse texture (or any other texture) in Photoshop. Convert to b/w, play around with levels, contrast, mask parts that are not supposed to glow, whatever it takes...

To apply glow maps, you will have to change some properties in Nifskope. Here's a step by step guide. It was written for "Oldrim", but the process is basically the same for SE:

On a side note: Better use the "Creation Kit and modders" section of this forum. You will get more and better answers there.

Good luck with your project!
