maYuYang
Cool, I like the fact that the Elder are also hanging around with us^^. Come to think of it: you have much more experience in life than anyone else from us(We could learn alot from you). But tbh, most older people I know are very unfriendly, even though I'm nice to them. I guess that they feel like left behind? Abandoned by younger people which is a sad and terrible fact... Glad that you're so nice Prefessor and gandalftw^^
bben46
For all you young 'whipper snappers' out there that think it's strange that us 'elder geeks' enjoy Oblivion. Who did you think invented computer games?
jackssn
 I'm not sure how old the the oldest player here but I'm going on 64. The wife thinks I'm too old to be playing games but I like it.
bben46
I think the kids need to get out in the yard and play. Leave the computer games to us elder pharts that don't have the energy for all that physical activity. They need it to keep from getting fat. We, on the other hand, are already fat. Mostly from sitting around and playing computer games. I have grandchildren that think I invented computers just for them to play games on. It boggles their mind when I tell them I didn't have computers or game consoles when I was a kid.
Perfessor
Hi Folks, Speaking to what maYuYang has observed, I think we can all relate. We see older folks around us everyday that are negative, bitter and stand-offish; for whatever reasons these folks have in their minds for being that way, I think that's what makes them old. Whereas, younger people from toddlers on up, see life as an unfolding adventure, and I think that keeping that optimistic attitude about life will go a long way to keeping us young. There is an older fellow that I know, that I "crack iron" with, older than me even, that says "our goal is to die young, as old as possible". I think that pretty much sums it up. As for me, "I may grow old, but I'm never going to grow up!" GAME ON!! Perfessor

Shadowcran
I think the kids need to get out in the yard and play. Leave the computer games to us elder pharts that don't have the energy for all that physical activity. They need it to keep from getting fat. We, on the other hand, are already fat. Mostly from sitting around and playing computer games. I have grandchildren that think I invented computers just for them to play games on. It boggles their mind when I tell them I didn't have computers or game consoles when I was a kid. I know. Most kids expect you to sit in a rocking chair and/or recliner and vegitate for the rest of your life rather than find something to enjoy. Games, especially ones with deep content, are just begging for older players to discover them. Take me, for example. I'm 38 but am disabled. My eyesight is going, I'm constantly going to the doctor for other problems and am in effect disabled. Now, a kid would look at my situation and conclude, " his life is over, might as well sit in a chair watching TV while heavily medicated until death comes to take him." I can't. I grew up loving first board games, strategy games like Shogun, Fortress America, Risk, Chess, Stratego, and Axis & Allies. I had an Atari when I was 13 and can still remember the day I ALMOSt got 1 million points in Defender, and had 37 lives left to get maybe 1000 more points and my little sister coming along and turning the game off right then because she wanted to watch her tape of 'The Empire Strikes Back" for the 47th time. In Junior and High school, I discovered that despite being built like a football player, I hated hanging with that crowd. They were so BORING!! I've a 167 IQ and could give a rats arse about the latest muscle car. (The jocks wouldn't even talk about women! only cars and getting drunk..zzzz) so I started hanging around the so called geek crowd. They introduced me to D & D so that I now had two gaming likes/loves, Strategy and RPG's. GOt to admit, I was a Sega Genesis junkie when it came out and was always starved for the games like my genre(back then, about all you got in the US was Mortal Kombat and clones or sports games). However, I did find gems like Rings of Power(I'm still one of only about 8 people who have beaten that game), Shining Force series, Shadowrun, Genghis Khan, and many others. What all this leads up to is that video games, console and PC, have been around a long time. There are second and third generation gamers out there. We've played games when all they had going was the gameplay with pitiful graphics(anyone else notice the older games are a lot harder than todays?) Now, even players who were "too old" to have played the Atari when it came out are discovering that games are a better way to spend their time than sitting around wondering why their kids don't visit often enough. As the numbers of these increase, expect to see games that actually are tailored to their tastes.
