Rhyagell
Hello,I have modded Skyrim Special Edition to an extended extent, around 142 active mods if the right hand side of MO2 is any correct indication, 103 if the left hand side is more accurate. So far the game seems to be running very smooth, no crashing or performance issues. My grass mod is Verdant, and it is coupled with SFO Trees Only. My problem right now seems to be that my grass view distance is really short/close to the player. It is distracting, and immersion breaking. Everything beyond a close view is extremely bald. Here's a good example of what I mean:https://ibb.co/SnYST6dWhat I have tried is editing the skyrimprefs.ini in the MO2 profiles folder under [GRASS] from 7000.000 to 8000.000 to 18000.000 to 20000.000, but nothing seems to improve it. All of my view settings are maxed out in the Skyrim Launcher as well. The files aren't read only, either, and I have tried setting them to read only after making the changes to see if it would help but it didn't. I even found on various google finds suggestions to change:[General]uLargeRefLODGridSize=11 to 21 but still no change. Is this just as far as the view distance goes in Skyrim or am I missing something? Thank you for reading!
Grospolina
Grass is only displayed in loaded cells, so yes, that looks about right. The only way to change this would be to increase uGridsToLoad, but this comes with a lot of potential problems. Loading more cells means that more memory is being used, more scripts are running at the same time, and quests begin firing too early. Some people claim that they don't have any problems, but IMO it's not worth increasing it just for grass.
Rhyagell
Hey and thanks so much for the reply! :)Okay, I don't want to risk the stability for the grass, that'd just make it worse. But I do have a question: why is it better on my PS4 than my PC? That just seems way backwards.
Grospolina
I don't think the grass renders any farther on the PS4. However, it could be how the terrain looks in the distance (LOD) that's different.
Rhyagell
Alrighty, I guess I'll just deal with the grass. It'll be hard, but oh well. :sweat:Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it Grospolina! :)
