Dominator046
I am working on a mod which introduces a few new weapons and weapon styles to the game, and to help not disrupt the flow of the weapons, i thought of this. Like how "Actors In Charge" Allows you to activate several animations that normal players couldent do. I thought, ~hey, what if i could make an object or set of spells, that allow me to switch between weapon animations, like, i could use normal oblivion animations, and then swap to like DMC stylish!~ I am curious if this is possible, i want to know if i should continue learning scripting and obse, or should i find another solution? Please assist. Thanks. Dominator.
tyreil829
maybe... i dont think it is impossible but i think a experienced Scripter might know Shepard

Solinarius
Sky Captain kind of did what you were referring(Spears of Cryodiil). In his mod he switches whatever weapon you are wielding to staff animations. You go between normal and staff animations from the touch of a button. The only thing that breaks immersion is the equip/unequip messages that pop up, which I'm sure "No More Annoying Messages" fixes. However, I don't think you can force Oblivion to use animations which are not set to one of the vanilla weapons sets(h2h, 2h, 1h and staff) unless you use completely unique attacks using OBSE scripts. Would be nice to know more about the fuctions of OBSE, I had intended to get a little more familiar. I suppose if their are functions for OBSE to recognise each players/npcs attacks and animation sets for the attacks it would be possible.
rondivu
Let us bring up other topic that is debating on the matter as well: The power gloves Just trying to bring together people who are wondering on similar problems, so that they could be solved with more minds. The reason why I suggested it just recently was because of Spears of Cyrodiil. Someone figured out a way to switch the animations... thats pretty important... I suppose we'll have to look at code to get it but I'm inexperienced with it. But, since its creation... I believe it IS possible.
Dominator046
Ok thanks everyone, ill keep this open so anyone who has anymore ideas can share, but i will continue to learn and hunt down mods that might lead me closer to my goal. Dominator046
But im definently going to look at spears of cyrodiil. ok, that would be even better than i first planned (firsti thouht i would have to have a spell for every single combat/magic animation, but that works much better). I am going to see what i can do to learn how to make that effect with more animations.
rondivu
check out nifscript. hopefully, with newer developments and optimization and a lot of work, its already possible, as they have a mod that does that, for any weapon i believe. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21292
