xander2077
I recently reinstalled morrowind, for the umpteenth time...basically i had a problem with windows vista, which borked the OS and i had to wipe the drive and reinstall windows, this time choosing windows 7... so after a long time of procrastination and just general real life, i decided to reinstall morrowind so i could test a few NPC texture mods i made in game, and maybe even play a little... well, i went through the laborious process of reinstalling everything, manually copying and pasting about 100 or so mods into the data files folder (most of which are pluginless) and then running MGE...did all the patches and found it was still way sluggish even on my really good system, which is about medium processor wise and GFX card wise, but way higher than most on the ram end... so... i found out about MGSO...and then tried the next install with that...cool so far...graphics look great, no fps lag...and then i walk up to one of the NPCs and notice the ugly face...gag...and that my favorite texture mods were missing!!! AAAArrrGGGHHHHHH!!!! when i tried to add mods that i had before, i keep getting errors, i guess because MGSO tells morrowind to look for mods in another folder other than where the esp files themselves want to look...not good when you have to click about 100 times in order to even get in game... then when you switch from interior to exterior the same thing happens...click 100 times to get back out into seyda neen???...jeesh! so what im asking is how in the heck does anyone get the MGSO and the mods you want to run along with it to play nice? like better heads, better armor, better bodies, better clothes, and robes, or even my own texture mods...the folder structure of the MGSO mods is confusing and makes it near impossible to add anything outside of their structure...the interface doesnt let you choose any of the things you really want in most cases, and even if there are choices, a few of them still lock you into the limited options you dont really want...i do admit the grass and trees options were good, but the others, need to allow for other mods than just what comes prepackaged with MGSO... it seems like they have built in their own hierarchy into the way mods are read and identified, even a weird folder structure that makes it impossible to install other mods in conjunction with MGSO...and i really want all the bells and whistles i had before...MGSO doesn't allow for this it seems... i gotta say that performance wise MGSO kicks butt, however i really dont like looking at the ugly vanilla heads and bodies in the new morrowind overhauled world...it really ruins the immersion of it... so how do i install other mods to work with MGSO? there are no good guides out there to tell how to do it...or if they were, the sites that hosted them are down, or accounts suspended...basically a bunch of dead links and dead ends...and when i tried using the nexus mod manager and other tools to activate mods, i get all these errors at the load screen...its getting really frustrating... do programmers really have to be this controlling? cant the mod community work together to make it easier for us low level modders and gamers to make something work? anyway, if anyone has a solution, i would really appreciate it...i just want to get this thing working right and my computer can handle botht he beauty and speed, just needs the right configuration...MGSO can configure it right, but the only thing that completes it is those pluginless mods and esp's i cant use with it... forunner0
Well I am in the process of going through the headaches of, Morrowind Mods, Oblivion Mods, and MorrOblivion Mods.... Ive been trying to get a better understanding of how to run all these mods, with out feeling like a chicken with my head cut off....but unfortunately its not working. I loaded the MGU 3.0, which seemed to be the best one singular mod out there, and that allowed for other mods. . . but I wanted to get other mods for them (like the ones with better NPC bodies) But every where I look its so convoluted with fail scripts or messing meshes and other stuff, and or its confusing ass hell(Usually both). There is no order, no matter what site, and Ive only found 2 sites that had decent ordering for the set ups, but you still have to deal with the rest of figuring out how to make sure everything is installed. I need to finish this as soon as possible and heavily test it out, because soon Im not going to have to internet and want to have everything from morrowind to skyrim ready to go. If you get anything please let me know.
xander2077
well i decided to reinstall, and luckily i had a folder full of the mods i had way back, and i guess the one mod in question that caused me all the ehadaches is finally gone, so yeah, after installing, then running MGSO, and finally dropping the whole saved data files folder in, then checking the boxes i knew would be ok, i got one heck of a morrowind running on here...now just need to make a few more mods of my own and i will be pretty much set... 7vincent7black7
In my level of understanding MGSO is not overly compatible with a lot of mods that will modify graphics and/or sound because they might put in files that overwrite files put in my MGSO 3.0. If the game is loading pieces of your mod, and pieces of MGSO, and pices of other mods all at once, that might wierd freaky looking faces because of textures over-lapping or whatever. Just a general thought point to be put out there to be considered as a whole. Edited October 23, 2013 by 7vincent7black7
