Shabdez
I donn't know why, but Neloth just won't give me any more quests from Lost Knowledge after I got the first two Black Books from White Ridge Barrow and Benkongerike. The next one should be in Raven Rock mine (or Kobljorn Barrow?).Is it possible, that the changes made by Simple Raven Rock Expansion to the Raven Rock Mine LCTN reference (xx01429A) prevent the progress of the quest? The quest has 2 conditions referring to LCTN and SRRE changed the vanilla entries. The necessary entries are still there, but got moved from LCSR subsection to ACSR. anjenthedog
I think some of them are just black books you get as a result of doing other quests. I'm lousy with names (and not in windows right now so can't check my game), but I think one I discovered by accident while wandering the island and the other as part of the mine quest (which exits north and west of the mine itself, near a tower on the coast) PS. you're aware he has one you can steal yes? Shabdez
See if this helps you: The BooksThat is a different quest ("Path of Knowlegde"). It will be followed by "The Gardener of Man" which is a prerequisite for "Lost Knowledge", the one I am talking about. @anjenthedog: I know where all the books are and how to get them. "Lost Knowlegde" is just a concurrent quest series that points you to all the Black Books you haven't picked up yet. But unfortunatly, for me it stops after 2 book although at least 2 more could be retrieved.

Scroll down about 1/4 of the page, or so. You will see the following: Black Book: Epistolary Acumen (Main Quest - The Gardener of Men)Black Book: Filament and FilgreeBlack Book: The Hidden TwilightBlack Book: The Sallow RegentBlack Book: The Winds of ChangeBlack Book: Untold LegendsBlack Book: Waking Dreams (Main Quest - At the Summit of Apocrypha)
anjenthedog
A broken quest can be caused by a variety of problems. For instance, I have a mod installed that clears dead bodies. Unfortunately, a side-effect is that if I encounter a quest-related body *prior to gaining the associated quest, (bodies are cleared after a relatively short period of time once you have encountered them, in fact, it appears to happen as soon as you do a cell change), once I start the quest and am required to encounter and interact with the dead body, (Verona, that guy in the in with the snazzy enchanted broadsword, etc), it has already been removed from the game (My fem character can't finish "find verona" in the "reluctant steward" ... I believe that's the quest name but I think you can understand which one I'm talking about) and so the quest becomes un-finishable unless I use console commands to advance it beyond the broken portion.A broken quest can also be caused by a missing mod that provides a required resource, for instance, a creature or NPC or something else. ...and yet, when missing, doesn't caused a noticable "flag" to the engine or SKSE or Vortex or MO2, or whatever to notify us that it's missing, so we don't even know we need the missing "item" A broken quest can also be caused by good old poor programming on the part of a mod author of that quest. I could cite a few that I've found along the way, but I don't want to offend any authors. And I'm sure I'm not citing other ways. But in the end, a button is a simple UI (user interface) activator, not a staged quest. One might use some tenuous argument to say "they're the same" and sure, apples and oranges both have seeds, and they're both fruits, and some apples are tart (Granny Smith, for instance) and some oranges are very sweet (Florida for instance), but there's a reason people say "that's like comparing apples and oranges." Because they're generally not really comparable even if certain subsets of group A have intersection with certain subsets of group B Edited March 28, 2020 by Zaldiir Removed reference to a spam post.
