but a lot of the DB quests nearly force you into getting caught.

 

Yeah, I know what you mean. There seems to be a certain way to do all of them, but on some they are just too hard to figure out. Like that one where you have to go into the sewers and sneak into the prison, it's nearly inpossible not to get caught.

I never got caught while doing DB. The only time I was near was during the Assassinate Adamus Philida or something. I had downloaded a mod that cancels the kill-guard-auto-bounty, and a mod that made the guards less hyper sensitive. I sniped the poor man from a rooftop, but hadn't noticed the Argonian staring up at me, and he promptly yelled "MURDER!" Of course, I blew his brains out with an arrow, then ran like heck, escaping, then waiting out my bounty.

Yeah, that one was hard at first, I was having a lot of trouble with it. Then next time, I just waited for him to go swimming, and then sniped him from behind the house next to the pond he was swimming in. The guard was pretty dumb, I mean it's pretty obvious that when you see someone get shot with an arrow, you should go and take a look at the place where the arrow came from...

 

Anyway, Kelvin, how did you manage to do the IC prison one? I have tried doing that fifty times and not once have I done it and not got caught. I mean, once I grabbed the toughest shield I could find, then just ran through, and then when I had to kill Dreth, I killed him, then blocked against the 20-odd guards that had followed me there, and then ran out. And I still got my bonus, because I didn't actually kill any guards... :P

It's quite easy. I managed to do it with a 24 sneak skill. All you need to do is have enough patience and timing. Wait, as most of the guards move away at one time or the other. If all else fails, download a mod that reduces the sight radius of the guards to something lower, and more realistic.

Yeah, I did it once without being caught now that I think of it, I used 3 pieces of jewellery enchanted with chameleon. It was evisceral, I hid just outside a door, the guard almost touched me, I swore that I would get caught, but he just kept walking...

I've always considered invisibility and even chameleon quite unfair. But that's just me.

This is a bit off topic, but is there a mod that makes it so that you can't join the Mages guild if you're in the fighters guild, or something similar? It's quite strange when the Mages guild lets a barbarian in.

What about a battlemage? And besides, most fighter's guild members are just regular joes who need a bit of extra cash on the side.

 

More what I want to know is about those DBHood mods. I remember one member mentioning that there was one that lets you avoid Purification, and another that lets you continue doing contracts after you become listener...

Fav- Dark Brotherhood

 

It takes more skill then any other guild, that and i enjoy killing. They're my family, my only regret is that i had to kill them all.

 

AntiFav- Fighters Guild

 

The fighter's guild has always been lack luster in it's execution. It's annoying how all you do is charge and swing. There's not much of a challenge nor much thought.

 

 

Though honestly all the guilds bug me a little bit. When you do something really amazing in reality you're rarely automatically put in charge of your organization. Not to mention that, in a small world like Cyradiil where everyone knows everything instantly, the fighter's guild would be incredibly wary of even letting you in if you're the head of the mage's guild, let alone making you head of them too, right? That'd be a territory issue, not to mention the topic of many conspiracy theories.

 

Going up in rank or title, or even just getting a promotion takes work. Work that just doesn't exist in Oblivion. : /
