Standalone follower got affected by face overhaul mod.

Hi, As the topic said. I've downloaded face overhaul mod(Botox for skyrim) and I love the result. But somehow one of my Standalone follower mod(Rosetta) got affected from facegen(?) and It completely changed her head. While other standalone didn't get affected at all. It may be that her modder didn't consider about it.

I've tried to fix this, myself. But I'm just too stupid. ;( Is there anyway to exclude her mod's facegen or something like that. I don't really want to remove either one of them. Thank you!

A follower mod can use the standard meshes and textures, or it can use its own custom versions. Looking at the mod itself, it looks like it's using custom versions of everything, which means that it shouldn't be affected by Botox for Skyrim. Is it just the textures that are affected (hair and face shape look fine), or do you get a messed up dark face? Does this happen on a new game?

Looking at the FaceGen file, I notice that there's a mistake with the tint mask. However, all of the custom paths are correct. You can try to fix it with NifSkope, but I don't think it will fix your problem:

  • Open the following file in NifSkope: Data\Meshes\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\CV_RosettaFollower.esp\0001E2ED.nif
  • On the left side, click each NiTriShape node until the face is highlighted in the render window.
  • Expand that node and then BSLightingShaderProperty and BSShaderTextureSet.
  • It should show a bunch of texture paths in the bottom window.
  • Change textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Rosseta_Follower.esp\001E2ED.dds to textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\CV_RosettaFollower.esp\0001E2ED.dds
  • Save.

If you use TES5Edit or the CK to edit the NPC record for Rosetta in any way, you will get a dark face. In this case, I'd recommend reinstalling the mod.

I looked through the ESP a bit and it looks like the custom path for her head mesh is missing. Normally this is not a problem, since it's already saved in the FaceGen mesh (which is basically a pre-generated head). However, it could be that Botox changes the standard head mesh, and this is causing the game not to use the FaceGen mesh. You could try this in game:

  • Open the console (~).
  • Click on Rosetta. A reference ID should appear in the center of the screen.
  • Type: disable
  • Type: enable
  • Close the console (~).
This may cause it to reload the FaceGen mesh. I don't know what happens after you save and reload. Edited by Grospolina

It changed her head to botox preset completely with texture error like grey face, head and those Apachi hairs. Her head even disappeared like other npc when I removed Botox but still keep its esp. She only worked fine without Botox installed. And still happened even with a new game.

So I think the mod see her just like other normal NPC or the mods that Botox covered not unique mod like other followers.

tried your methods but sadly, still can't fix it.

So I tried it out and I get the same result as you. This is a weird one.

It says this on the Description page for Botox:

Botox_Chargen.esp in version 1.1 is used to counter the invisibility bug and results in mismatched heads in some follower mods and female player characters. Some NPCs may become invisible if you untick Botox_chargen.esp. I will add it as a seperate file once I find another solution for the invisibility bug.

If you disable Botox_Chargen.esp, then Rosetta works again. I'm not sure what this invisibility bug is, so I don't know what the side effects are. However, I looked at the ESP and it modifies a bunch of standard head parts to use the Botox textures.
