devinpatterson Posted April 14, 2014 Author Share Posted April 14, 2014 I've been searching for some new Quest mods, and so far I've had no luck in find any that interest me. Amongst many of these quest mods there were, Unfinished quests, unpatched bugs, and mistakes, and most of all, hugely open spaces.(With that being said, I know that no ones perfect and modding takes great skill, and I'm definitely not saying I could to better, I appreciate those who put even the slightest amount of time in their mods, because when it comes down to it, I don't know the first thing to creating a mod) The only Quest mod that has ever really caught my eye is Deimos but I've had that one for awhile. Out of boredom I started another play through, and I got to the quest called the House Always Wins I, where you enter the lucky 38 and upon doing so you go up the elevator and you have a encounter with a rather strange intriguing bot named Jane, Mr. Houses favorite girl who's memories and thoughts he preserved in a bot, and I wildly began to dream up this whole Backdrop story of her. No I know its sort of a wild story but it takes place once you've completed whatever fate you've given Mr. House, you pay the lucky 38 a visit and you come across a shut down bot that oddly seems familiar (Like Victor after Mr. House's fates been decided) and upon further inspection you find that you can use some spare parts to repair and start the bot back up, knowingly of course you also have the skills required. Upon repairing the bot, it Jolts up with a startle, and begins to crash into things, before coming too, after realizing its Jane and questioning her you come to realize that her memory database is fried and you can attempt to repair it with the necessary parts and skills once again. after repairing her data you find some files that tell of Mr. House keeping Jane's human body preserved below the lucky 38 in a cryogenic chamber since before the bombs, You then take it upon yourself to go rescue her. I didn't think much on details of the adventure to her, but once you find her and release her she awakes screaming, and with speech you must calm her down, and then explain to her the world as it is now (Black screen is introduced at this point to keep from the boring dialogue) as she finally comes too you can either give her the choice to stay with you, roam the lands and gain experience in the new world that has come before her, or she can simply stay in the lucky 38 lobby, take care of it for you, or even send her out with a sum of caps to look for a place to live and hope she doesn't get herself killed, if you choose to have her with you, over time you can learn stories of Mr. House Pre-War, and even come to find out why her body was preserved and why he didn't do it as well. (I have a lot to this story and if someone is actually interested in making it then I will explain more on it) I'm very Hopeful that someone will take the chance to make this a quest mod, seeing as I'm not confident in myself enough to give an attempt to do this myself. please let me know what you think!? add improvements you think would be interesting, as well as submit your own ideas similar! I would love to hear some new ideas! devinpatterson Posted April 14, 2014 Author Share Posted April 14, 2014 So some of the more recent betas were lost when I (ironically enough) took advantage of dropbox/onedrive/googledrive to offer triple redundancy backup. However I found some earlier ones in my data folder and they have 90%+ of my work, so it's not a huge disaster. I'v also got a new BSA utility (BSAopt x64) that properly flaggs OGGs in the archive (which has been a thorn in my side since the start of this project). In addition I added a new dialog line that becomes available when the player has upgraded the securitrons to MK IIs. I'm going to be in search of any other Voice actors for now I know a few places to look, if you have found one just let me know via PM or here I will be checking continuously! If you need any other people with specific skills or just need some help with anything just let me know as well! I'm not very fluent with the Geck currently but hopefully as time goes by in this project I can offer more help around more specific areas! Gotta deliver it awesomely, y'know? x3 That would be great Kat, it's an iconic voice so the closer we can come to the original the better off the mod will be. I just need the script so I can get the voice testing underway. I appreciate this opportunity that you're giving me to voice such an, I think, important companion. OK we'll start working on her additional dialog (most of it is already finished and voiced, but there is more to come). Feel free to add your thoughts and ideas in the thread for dialog, quest ideas, and whatever else comes to mind etc. Just one question: will her android form share similarities to the real Marilyn Monroe? Just a curiosity...would be kinda cool. :o Indeed. The android will be stolen/removed/liberated from a fallout version of Madame Tussauds was museum. In my mind/vision the fallout version of a wax museum is a android as opposed to a static wax sculpture and the android will look just like her except she will have a shader effect that makes her skin look like plastic. And that's pretty cool, having her android form kinda like a wax figure. The model looks decent, too. Though I can only imagine what it would do in the Mojave heat...man, just imagine this wax android walking in the hot sun and melting before the players very eyes. That wax must be sun resistant to withstand that heat... xD :wink: no worries I won't hold terrible joke against ya. But the background on this one is that if you have the tech to make animiatronic but completely life like figures, I foresee wax houses evolving into a more interactive experience. In my vision places like Madame Tussauds would have had fully voiced and animated figures for decades before the war (maybe as early as 2020 or 2030). They could do skits/plays for the audiance. There wouldn't be anything super special about the tech, just the equivalent of a protectron skeleton under a pretty plastic package (that looks like the actor is supposed to represent). And this gives us some cool opportunities. So in the wax museum (and maybe I should change the name to reflect the more modern offering as opposed to evoking images of wax sculptures) you would have many different stages and enviornments for the player to encounter. Say one stage could be a western from the golden age of hollywood westerns. 10 gallon hats and a john wayne look alike in a pitched gunfight with comanches or outlaws. Another sound stage could be from the gangster era. Tommy guns, wise guys and cops haivng a shoot. Another could be from a famous sci fi show of the times, maybe akin to buck rogers in 50 sci fi setting. Another could be a WWII setting, nazis and us servicemen at war. Anyway as many stages as we want, or have time to build. However the twist (not that it's much of a twist) is that the droids also do double duty as security at night and are completely automated. However when the nukes fell their security program was (along with the mainframe) damaged by the EMP blast (or they had a anti-communist defensive program) so now they perceive the player as a threat. And the player gets to battle through each stage until reaching Marilyn's (android) where they must subdue her (probably with a emp weapon like a pulse grenade or some such), and reprogram her with Marilyn's (securitron) AI. It makes for some new and unique environments. One other aspect to the android look, specifically the shiny skin (ie plastic) is that I want to implement it as a way to differntiate that body from a human but still keep a very human-ish appearance. And if the shader can be applied correctly (or a alternative) in place of the skin shader, it means I don't have to change any of the standard fallout models. The skin shader will know what's skin and whats not and apply the slick/shiny look to it automatically based on her android custom race. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
