Deleted2746547User
I've been working on and off on this MOD for some time.... and I'm pretty close to having a decent playable version update by Monday. I am NOT a great scripter so the quests/dialogue hasn't been added yet (still hoping to get a little more help on that). However, what I do have in place are the fundamentals. The ability to mine resources: salt, metals, minerals (a loose term for a collection of minerals ranging from silica to potash to saltpeter, etc.), precious metals and oil (though there will be several, one can be built at El Dorado Dry Lake as a test) The ability to recycle scrap, junk, and other NV items into base resources (metal, petroleum, etc.) **Right now that is handled by converting it (as are ALL the other recipes right now) at a campfire. I am struggling with the script to make the **** Reclamation units located in the Base Services Building work properly. Also, after more playtesting I will adjust production levels, make certain recipes dependent on various skills or quest completion, etc. Right now, you can see ALL recipes if you have level 15 survival...and ALL can be used at any campfire. THIS WILL CHANGE. The ability to farm/ranch: milk, brahmin, meat, a wide array of fruits and vegetables, grains, trees for wood, hemp (for 10,000 different uses - building, fabric, fuel oil, etc.) The building of an actual "base" at the old NCRCF facility: complete with sandbags, guard towers, guards, patrols, k-9's, Barracks, Mess Hall, Civilian Housing, Administration Buildings, Base Services (Medical, Engineering, Armory, Supply), Disciplinary / Jail for captured prisoners, etc. (still have to figure out the capturing part), etc. The introduction of a ton of new items: seedoil, hempcrete, glass, bottling, beverages, food, metal containers, mre's, specialized weapons. I will be adding (but haven't gotten there right): actually recruiting civilians to work in the various mines/etc, scripting the quests (right now, all "improvements" are simulated by "turning a switch" on), supply chains from distant mines, etc.building and taking over new settlements across the mojave, and adding detail (much later) to the building process... (that is, once you start building a facility... it won't just appear but will build over a few days to a week and show "prgress" as it goes.... THAT IS WAY BEYOND MY CURRENT SCRIPTING ABILITIES. In any event, that is the project. Like I said, there is a current version up right now but the major update will occur Monday (and since you will need to upload all the data files again, you may want to wait till then.) BUT I WOULD LOVE FEEDBACK, ADVICE, HELP!!!! on it, and playtesters are always welcome. (I know there may be texture issues on some items and I am trying my best to fix those...if you see something, let me know.) And I have a longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg list of thank you's both for actual help or inspiration (due to their mods).... I will get to that shortly. The link is in my signature. Have a wonderful weekend.
Deleted2746547User
Actually, I am posting the update today. FEEDBACK would be very appreciated. V. 1.05 (KEEP IN MIND, THIS BREAKS MOST NCRCF related quests. If you are new to the game or want to be NCR, Caesa's Legions, etc. you might not like this all that much) new images posted Edited October 7, 2012 by Guest
charwo
Why not make it so this only triggers after the 'I fought the law quest line' with Eddie and the Powder Gangers (if you sided with them) in Vault 19? Plus.....you're using the wrong flag. America has used the Commonwealth flag since the late 1960s at least, and it''s probable the Falllout USA never had a 50 star variant of the flag. As of now I haven't downloaded this because I'm not sure how to give feedback on what. Yes you've added more items, but to what end? Are they only in the prison or out in the world? Without quests and with almost no dialouge quests, plot or storyline or justificatiion (I would imagne the simplest are these are NCR malcontents who got wind the prison was being abandoned and they saw the America, where have you gone? logos and decided, f*** it, we're making America come back, and as such they would probably start out with a non faction variation of NCR troopers uniforms and would be acitvely looking for pre-war American armors to distinquish themselves.) In addition they will need money and leverage with NCR, probably wanting the Couier to kill the deathclaws and such on I-15, recruit workers from Westside to repair both the rail line and repave I-15 from Goodsprings to New Vegas, and then taking control of outer Vegas fascilities like the Steel plant and such to start up industry. In other words, power by refurbishing industry and in this case, possibly being reliant, at least at first on robots to run the places (like they pay the Courier to tkae out the robots at the Sunset Saspharilla facility, then if the Courier has the Robotic Expert perk, then repair them to start bottling the plant. The Restoaration movement then needs to set up logistics to get the ingrediants ffor homebrewed Sunset and possibly having entaglements with Alice McCafferty because they will want to make their own bottlecaps and not cut their profits by a fifth, and a peaceful solution could be they make the bottlecaps in such a way that they are clearly not currency, which is whatt Crimson Caravan worries about.) Just suggestions, as I want a resotration mod too, although I'm thinking of retrofitting the paraphenallia of NCR. Good luck!
Deleted2746547User
Mainly because this isn't meant to be played along with the vanilla game. I've played it a 1,000 times already and wanted something different. It's all what you like and since the idea of rad roaches and the entire game storyline is pretty far fetched in the first place, anything is possible. If you don't like the mod, don't waste your time by downloading it. I'm making this for me ... I just happen to be sharing it with anyone else that wants something different. Ya know. ;) As for the flag, etc. and the "faction's history" and so on... I'll post a guide when I get time to in the next week or so. Thanks for the feedback... charwo
Well, the thing is in order for me to want to try it, I need it to at least plausibly work in the main quest. But I see that's not h direction you want to go, and that's A-OK. As for implausibility, given the tech level of the pre-war, almost everything can be justified in terms of real science and civic breakdown, although it means having the look of 50s pulp without the 50s pulp explanations. Th only exceptions are the environment: green mods and Nevada Skies/Project Reality are a must. That said, FO3 could use a mo like this far more than New Vegas, and it has more places to put such a base by a long shot. However, that is the last of my feedback or no. I will be keeping an eye on this though, and if you can convince me to give i a whirl in the updates, I'll be back with more.
