LE Blessing of Namira: Becoming the Wendigo

You once asked me to tell you about the wendigos. I laughed at your question, asserting that they didn't exist. That they were just another name for Werewolves. I lied. Please understand, I was trying to protect you. Indeed, I shudder writing this, for the less you know about the vile children of Namira, the better. However, I cannot shield you from the true horrors of the world any longer, and so, as I lay here dying, I am forced to include all that I know in their destruction. It is not the path I would have chosen for you, my apprentice, but it is the one that, I am afraid, must be taken.

 

So what is a wendigo? Surely you know of the cannibal servants of Namira. Those who gather in secret lairs across the Reach, and indeed, in the other provinces as well. Partaking of that which is most forbidden and vile, in unholy patronage to Namira. However, this consumption of human flesh is not just repulsive and taboo, but actively dangerous. For each bite that is taken is one step closer to the manifestation of the true "gift" of Namira. Once a certain threshold has been reached, then the soul is damned, and the person will become a wendigo.

 

I was not completely dishonest when I linked Wendigos to Werewolves, for indeed, the two share many similarities. Like lycans, Wendigos will transform into vicious, daedra-like beasts, so as to better hunt their prey. Most followers, once becoming "blessed" by Namira, prefer to remain in this form, for indeed, while they can still take the form of a human, and live among humans, it is risky to do so, as their hunger will eventually get the better of their discretion. A wendigo in it's true form is incredibly fast, strong, and vicious. It is extremely resistant to weapons, although, like werewolves, silver harms it, and it can still be brought down by magic. I suggest, when hunting one, that you either become skilled in the arcane, or employ a mage to accompany you.

 

Always remember that wendigos were once human. They are not mindless beasts, however they may appear. They are still partially human and, as such, are smarter and more cunning than a normal predator. Never mistake the ferocity of a wendigo for unintelligence.

 

I trust you to hunt them down wherever you may find them. They are vile abominations that are dangerous to all of Tamriel for as long as they walk this earth. Strike true, and always carry silver.

Sorry for the random long thing there. I was feeling somewhat narrative.

 

Anyway, this is one of those times when I kick myself for having no modding skills whatsoever, as an idea is in my head. Basically, wendigos. The cannibals of Namira were cool, but it didn't really build up to anything. One of the things I liked about the Better Vampires mod was that you gain ranks as you feed, which eventually give you larger bonuses and new abilities. Wouldn't it be cool if being a cannibal did the same? In myth, the wendigo is a cannibal spirit, born when a person breaks the ultimate taboo and feeds on human flesh. They become a hungering, inhuman beast.

 

I imagine having something like the beast form transform power, for a bestial form and easier hunting, or possibly just have it so you're stuck in that form (not sure how well that would work. Perhaps there would be a cure) Basically, though, you would be faster, stronger, and able to gain ranks as you fed off people (you would have to gain a certain threshold before actually becoming a wendigo though)
