steelhunter53
So the start of this idea took form when I was watching a video about if a bow and arrow could penetrate armor,if your curious it couldnt and I'll link it below if I can find it. One of the things they say in the video is that they think they mainly used iron arrows but they may have had a way to make low-medium grade steel arrows what they said next though got me thinking, they said that a steel or an iron blade doesn't necessarily cut better or do more damage what it does is stay sharp longer. This combined with something else that bothers me,Heavy Armor weighs more the farther you get in the game, even though steel is lighter than iron and you'd think the Dwarves and Orcs would find a way to make there gear lighter as they are such amazing smiths and inventors afterall, and then why would Daedric Armor be so heavy, like even if no one else could. The Deadra couldn't figure out a way to make Strong Heavy Armor that doesn't weigh you down so much, I'm not saying it has to be as light as Light Armor but like a little bit less weight would be nice(Also maybe everything Im saying is wrong idk but I still really like this idea even if it goes against all lore and all science and real life attributes) got me thinking on this idea. For starters the Mod in a nutshell overhauls how combat works in a different way then I've ever seen,by changing how the stats and attributes of all Armor and Weapons in the game are handled as well as making a few other slight changes, but most of the slight changes are part of other smaller mods so maybe just use those with this mod. What the mod would do: All Weapons in the same category do the same amount of damage(For example:All swords do 12, All Daggers do 10,All Warhammers do 20 so on so forth, truly unique weapons won't have there damages changed but would be unleveled to there strongest version,if they are leveled) The only difference between any two pieces of gear in the same category(These being: Swords,Daggers,Maces,Warhammers,Heavy Armor,Light Armor,Greatswords,War Axes, and Battleaxes) would be there weight and price(Unless again it's a truly unique item) Armor and Weapons get weaker the more you use them and need to be improved at a Smithy, improving works the same and they can be improved past there base damage for better states but the improvement will go away with use so a weapon or piece of gear that is used to much can drop from Legendary to Flawless but also a none improved weapon or piece of gear can go from its base stats to a status called weak in which is damage is reduced by 2 points and if you keep using it, it will continue to drop until it goes down to 1 damage, but it won't ever drop to zero or lower because I am unsure if that would allow some kind of exploit I am unaware of at the time. I keep mentioning Truly unique Items I guess I should make the distinction,if it has a unique model or a unique name that doesn't mention the vanilla category it keeps its vanilla damage/gets its max leveled damage. otherwise it gets the damage of that category(For example Queen Freydis's sword would be just like any other sword but Chillrend would get its max leveled damage) Bows can no longer be improved and won't go dull but arrows can be improved, probably like one iron ingot in a smithing table improves like 24 iron arrows or something like that, Arrows will go dull like weapons and will all do the same amount of damage regardless of the arrows material but they drop by a stage every time they're used so a Legendary Arrow will drop to Epic as soon as its shot and so on so forth until it becomes dull, when a dull arrow is shot it breaks on impact and would become a lootable object,or maybe the items could just appear where it broke whatever is easier, with a small chance, like 5% or so, to have some of the materials you used on it in its inventory Another feature I thought about for this mod was fatigue but I think wildcat already does that perfectly so I think the mod should instead be paired with wildcat, at the very least wildcat should be recommended to be used with it. Also I think weapons should have certain buffs against armor and armor should have certain buffs against certain types of weapons and attacks for example: Maces,Warhammers, and Battle Axes do more damage against Heavy Armor but Arrows,Swords, and Daggers do less damage OR Fur and Hide Armor increase resistance to Frost attacks/spells but take extra damage from Fire attacks/spells Finally I think a weak armor rating of maybe 1-5 should be attributed to all clothing, and certain clothings, like the Hammerfell Garb should be light Armor That's about all the mod does, and I think it would be great and an interesting pairing with a lot of other combat mods If someone wants to make this idea a reality let me know when it releasesIf someone knows how all of this works and could tell me how I could do it that'd also be appreciatedOr if smaller mods exist that I could put together to make this system in my game without someone making it then let me know as well, Thanks :) Arrow Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBxdTkddHaE(Not mine and I don't claim it's mine all credit to Tods Workshop)
