Broken Quest

Hoping someone can help me with a problem.

 

I went to see Malborn in Solitude. He asked me to give him the gear that needed smuggling into the Embassy. I agreed, but there were no options to choose which gear nor any warning that none was chosen when he said "great" and headed back to the Embassy.

 

So now I'm in the 'larder' and the chest is empty and he won't leave the larder until I pick up my gear. And he's getting real nervous.

 

I could go back to before I met him in Solitude but in between I investigated the Gaulder amulet which was nearby. I was hard pressed during that quest and would prefer not to go back and fight it again.

 

Is there any thing I can do or any way--a console command, perhaps, that will allow me to move this quest forward? I have no armour and no weapons Delpjine has it all and I didn't get any choice about that either.

when he asks for your gear, he means everything except the clothes you're wearing, items and weapons. The idea is that you'd be searched upon entering the party... So if you carry a large inventory, it's kinda best to dump everything into chests at a player home before leaving on the mission, except any critical weapons and armor, (both of which you'll don after getting your gear back so you stand a chance getting out alive), a few health potions, etc, your party-wear, and your invitation to the party.

 

As I recall from when I did the quest (I have to do it again shortly on another character) , the scene with Malborn when you're in the kitchen area is disturbing but resolves itself if you're patient. (not exactly sure why it's sketchy, but it is). I recall much the same sense of helplessness and I also recall the quest not feeling like it was progressing correctly or glitching. Keep trying to interact with him. I think there might also have been some sort of time delay involved, although it's been a while and I don't recall the details.)
