BattleTech

Is it just me or are the mods a disorganized mess?

Hi,

I know that HBS and paradox have not made modding battletech easy. So I'm not here to cast any shade.

But considering the difficulty I am having getting many of the mods to work lately I feel like I need to say something.

I know that the 1.7 patch seems to have screwed some stuff up. Is there any way to kind of curate and organize which mods go with which patches? Is there some sort of general first stop sort of area to get information on which mods are working with 1.7 and which aren't without having to read through each individual mod? Personally I don't want to revert back to a previous version each time HBS does an update. I realize that HAS to break some mods but it would be nice to know more easily when each mod is ready to work with the latest version or if it has been abandoned entirely?

Not looking to start any crap just wanting to know if there was some kind of order to this chaos that I have missed.

well mods are officially supported now in 1.8, so hopefully it will make things easier for modders. however everytime i add a mod on 1.8 i get blank screens. but hbs are aware of this as its in their readme. so the future for mods looks better (hopefully)

What works for me is looking at the last upload of the mod file and comparing it to the patch release date. If the mod is earlier than the patched version it might or might not work. If the mod has been updated or loaded after the patch, it will most likely work. The deal is that all mods are used at your own risk but I load a lot of older mods and they still work. However, I have had to put them not in the mods folder but in C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\BattleTech\mods\HBS folder. Haven't had many issues and if I've had one I disable the last one I enabled until I find the culprit.
