MDRud216
Rise of the Undead is an RPG for unlimited amounts of players, it is about the war between The vampires, who wish to conquor the world and the Gaurdians, who are sworn to protect it. Setting On the remote Mormura archepeligo active volcanoes push life to the rare inhabitable areas of land. it is made up of four main Islands (see map) and countless secondary islands that stretch northwest - southeast past the curvature of the planet. The climate is about as diverse as the inhabitants of the archipelego, there are deserts, forests, plains and ash wastlands. But the single most feared object is The source, a huge storm a thousand miles across. It has been raging over the planet since the dawn of time and leaves only ruin it's path, whole landmasses have been destroyed by it. The Source The Source (as stated above) is a gigantic storm that rages over the planets surface, leaving only ruin in it's wake. Fortunately the storm moves slowely, unfortunately in the last 500 years it has crept from the high seas and over a western island of Mormura, rendering it uninhabitable. The Source gets it's name for the extreem amounts of energy that it gives off, decades after it has passed strange phenomona have been know to occur in those regions. So called mages, or sorcerors are those gifted with the ability to tap into The Source's energy and harness it for their own purposes, most commonly healing, telepathy and other psionics, elemental mastery, or necromancy. History Mormura has lacked a specific controlling force, but many cultures inhabit the land. War is a way of life, and as with all the world is still molding the future with every battle that is won or lost. However these wars are between tribes or fledgling kingdoms at best, the real power resides with the darker beings. Vampires Thousands of vampires walk the ash wastes, in preperation for the day that their invasion begins, which is drawing near. These foul creatures always apear pale, numerous scars mark their bodies as proof of their eternal life of war. The elder vampires of Mormura are even more putrid then the common, the flesh that remains on their bodies is hundreds of years old, yet will remain for hundreds more, it is a ghastly white, as the pigment has long since left it. It is dirty, and maget infested, rotting flesh is clearly visible. The vampires' origin is unknown to mortals, but most theories point to the evil gods of old who disappeared long ago. The vampires have always been at war with the ancient line of Gaurdians, or protectors. Vampires have numerous bases around Mormura, ussually underground cities, home to about a thousand Vampires. The Gaurdians Some basic It is the Gaurdians only who hold the ultimate knoledge, the origin of themselves and vampires. As their records say: The ancient gods, Mormuri and Taturas created all that is good and they governed their mortal lessers until about the year 15,00 after creation. This is when the evil gods Ghaldor and Felfalas' rise to power, they created all evil and battled Mormuri and Taturas for a thousand years. Both sides' power waned, and in a last hope of victory each claimed their "agents", the ones who would continue their war. These became the first of the Gaurdians, and Vampires. And so the time of the gods ended, but with her dying breath Mormuri created a land in her name that would reflect her divine beauty forever. And Felfalas with his dying breath, created The Source to forever leave a symbol of his power and malice. The Gaurdians resemble the vampires in many ways, their intolerability of sunlight being one resemblence. When not suited for war in their dark armor Gaurdian's dress in black robes, hoods drawn up to conceal their yellow eyes in shadow. Gaurdians are based in an extinct volcano on a northern island, a huge towering spire is at it's top. Gaurdian's always apear putrid, as their centuries old flesh is wrapped tightly to their muscels. Power Vampires draw their power from The Source, they hold supreme mastery over the supernatural and have the ability to climb up vertical surfaces, no matter how smooth, and can comunicate telepathically to other Vampires. However, for this mastery to be effective it must be fueled with blood, along with their immortality. Vampires also possess uncanny speed, and the ability to jump very high if they are "well fed". Gaurdians also draw their power from The Source, despite their good intentions. Through that power they hold supreme mastery over wisdom, intelligence and the art of weilding a sword. Weaponry Vampires typically use natural weapons, such as their razor sharp claws that extend a full inch from the tips of their fingers or their sharp, infection spreading teeth. Otherwise bows, and short blades are used, Vampires wear only light armor, often chain, depending on their super-human speed and agility for defence. Gaurdians are masters of the male without a father Sword, lightening reflexes and strength make them the death of any mortal who would try to kill one. Heavy armor, the color of night is donned when battle calls, plated and often spiked metal pervide portection. Other weapons used by them are bows and spears, In the front line of an army specially trained two person spears are extended out 20 feet or more. These warriors are known as pikemen, once their innitial charge is over the spears are abandoned and the pikemen draw their swords. few, that was a lot of info, and there is still a lot more... Characters In this RPG you will either play as a Vampire, or a Gaurdian, believe me they are balanced. I will not have control over who wins this war, however, as the DM I will shape the storyline and provide challenges for both sides seperatly as you wage your war. Your character sheet will look like this: Name:Sex: (Gaurdians are male only)(Vampire or Gaurdian)Favored Weapon: (Other than sword for Gaurdians)Special Attribute: (Speed, Strength, Agility etc. you are immortal remember, you get this on top of your race attributes i.e. Vampires are agile and fast, Gaurdians are intelligent and strong)Description: (make sure to include what you wear in here)Profession: (if you say your a smith you can make armor/weapons etc.) Rules 1. You can control fighting with standard NPC's such as any mortal enemy or Vampire/Gaurdian but be realistic.2.PC fighting is most definately allowed, make your move and leave it open for a reaction. (feel free to say you strike them and inflict an injury because it will take alot to kill either one of you)3. Don't skip ahead, such as say you sleep for a few hours, instead say you go to sleep and let events go on then say you wake up later, I will do all "one hour later" deals4. Don't worry about describing weather or scenery because I will porvide that for you, but feel free to be descriptive, just know what your talking about and be accurate to what i have said.5. Limited magic is allowed, but follow the "powers" given to you above That is it, I will start up when there is a lot of people, this RPG is for unlimited amounts!! Shadow of the Fallen
Well, MDRud216, you never cease to amaze. It is my honored priviledge to have participated in the engaging battle that is "A New Power". Never before this board have I been challenged to this extent of my ability in roleplaying, never before have I felt the pressure to surpass my limits and prove myself as great as I feel them now.. It is not simply a duty to rise to an expectation of quality roleplaying, it is a duty to myself to prove that I am the best in my own eyes. In that light, I would be even furter honored to be able to participate in yet another great war for the survival of man. Name: Kin'sharion Eserae (Sometimes shortened to Kin, Kin'sha, or some other variant)Sex: MaleGaurdianFavored Weapon: HaleberdSpecial Attribute: StrengthProfession: Elder, Tactician, and Warrior Description: Kin'sharion is a benevolent soul, devoted completely to Tarturas and Monmuri. His devotion is unltimatly expressed in his ever growing vengence upon the vampires and the evil they rent. He is massive, even for a gaurdian, and is perhaps the biggest and strongest of them all. He weilds a male without a father sword and haleberd with grace and precision doted on him only through endless hours of practice. The tremendous force that is his onslaught can rarely be stopped once started, for his shear inhuman strength allows him to take racking sweeps of steel that cleave flanks of men and vampires with ease. Not only is he one of the strongest, if not the strongest, guardians.. He is one of the eldest. Before most have rememberance, he was there, fighting alongside the great gods of all that was good an righteous. Now he stands alone among those that remain. Yet, his age has made the look of him even more frightening then his size and presence. His skin is bound in some, but ripped in many places over his body. The result is the exposure of his muscle and sinew beneath. Because of this, men both fear him and hold him with awe and respect, though the fear often outweighs the awe. Thus, he has never, in centuries, been seen without his hooded and robed apparel. He is often known to even use a scarf of light, gauzy material to sheild his face, much as what would be used to sheild one's face in the desert. He also leaves on his night-black, spiked metal gauntlets all the time, which aviods the appearence of his skin. In his armor, he is even more of an imposing sight then would he be if he wore no robes. The black metal bristles with spikes and protrusions, making it a fatal attempt to grapple him in combat.. Such would mean being impaled on the razor pointed spines. His armor is ornate, though the helmet is most. Twisting metal, bent in spiked double helixes, jut out from the top Like the stems of a rosebush intertwined with one another they are laced back upon each other, set menacingly to inflict fear upon his foes. And the face gaurd is intricatly worked as well, with frightening designs resembling the same rosebush-style theme. This warrior's profession is combat, his art is death. He lives for it, he is driven for it.. He longs for every glorious moment that is battle, and he longs to slay his fell enemy, the vampires. Long has he plauged them, and long have they known his name.. Kin'sharion rests in the back of every vampires mind when they rush to battle, of that keeper of death looming over them to deliver the final blow and end it all.. What prayers to their demi-gods do they whisper at dawn to ward the blades of Kin'shar from thier bodies and souls before their rest, if the foul creatures even perform such a task? I hope he's reasonable and doesn't sound like he is really over powered.. It is more adding drama, and the essence of the track record a few hundred centuries of war would earn you. I know I left the profession feild blank, I wanted to give him a job working with the gaurdians instead of doing work as a mercinary or somesuch, but I didn't know how you had that worked out or what your rules were about it.. If you want me to change anything, anything at all, let me know. And just so everyone knows, I think rule #3 is my fault.. And thumbs up to me for being the first to sign up. :D
MDRud216
you did have a part in the making of Rule #3... lol, err... your character is fine and don't be worried about overpower because you are an imortal being that will be at war with other immortals... you are sworn by Tarturas to the protection of mankind, thus your name. But if one is to come between you and your goal, or an army come between you, with ease you would anialate them. Both sides will have battles against humans, but on Mormura the sheer numbers will make it a good fight, the real fun comes when you have an army of 100,000 Vampires charging on an army of 40,000 Gaurdians, they are not organized, relying on sheer numbers to consume the army that stands before them. The gaurdians however, use their strength, and organized strategy. A perfect battle of numbers vs. strategy. Of course revolutionary things will happen in this RPG, such as the uniting of the Vampire cities in preperation for their conquest of the worl- oops I have said too much :P being of the elder is fine, these dudes don't die of ld age, nor do Vampires, but their are Gaurdians from all generations around you.... Professions think of it this way, in the army of your "side" are you one of the pikemen, who lead the charge and hold onto one end of the two person spears or are you a seige engineer, or the Vampire in charge of collecting corpses for feeding or... a blacksmith that forges weapons and armor for your "side"... Shadow of the Fallen
:D Well, for the profession, I was thinking of what that staus might have afforded him.. Not nessecarily anything of monument.. But more that he is 1) an elder, and 2) a very powerful foe in combat.. not that nobody else will be, but his very nature makes him in tune with his combat techniques and abilities... Basicly he would be an exemplified warrior, with battle honors and the whole lot.. But how would that be represented in a profession? While this is niether what I was thinking or a suggestion, think of how a warrior who has shown exceptional abilities of leadership among his peers might be promoted to sergent.. And then to Lieutenant, and Major, and General if he was consistently showing excelence among those of the same rank... They would progress military wise.. But this is different.. I get the feeling that these societies are based with the emphasis on war. Which means to be high in the army means to be high in society, and to be high in society would be high in the army.. To be elder would give him the advantage of experience in opposition to those who were newer and more intellegent.. And it would mean that he was also very powerful to have lived so long.. Really I don't know where to fit him, he isn't a blacksmith, and he doesn't hold one of those massive pikes.. But I see him on the front lines, hacking down people just the same.. So what do you think, am I making any sense? Got any ideas, or at least something to point me in the right direction?
MDRud216
as you may have noticed, Gaurdians are male only... they are not really living creatures... they were all created at once, but then the original, by means you don't know yet claimed succesors and the line of Gaurdian's was born as each generation (so to speak) claimed succesors. Succesors is a bad term because any elder that did not die in battle is still around... Vampires on the other hand, can create mor of themselves by biting... and the normal way. Shadow of the Fallen
Here's the understanding MDRud and I have come to about the characters.. Elders and my character in specific. Note that this is all information on the Gaurdians. First of all, general notes about Elders.-- They are 6' 4" Generically. None of the original warriors are different from another, except in manners of evolution over the years. For example, one may get slightly taller and bulkier from more combat with heavy weapons and the like. This would not exceed more then an inch or two. -- There are extreamly few elders remaining, most have died in many battles over the years. And now, because they are so few, and the greatest warriors, they stay behind the battles and use thier wits for strategy rather then direct combat.. If pressed they are fearsome warriors with millenia of experience. About my character.-- He is an elder, and he is slightly taller because of his sheer mass. Therefore, while he can be picked out easily among the other warriors because of his hieght. He is not substantially taller then any other elder. On the battle field, his ornate armor and helmet set him apart even more. -- He is THE LAST of the Elders that still goes into battle, none besides him is so devoted to his gods in this. While he posseses the intellegence and experience that the other elders have, and is just as often participating in devising the battle plan, he also leads his warriors into combat on the front lines. -- One note, though his hieght does not set him apart with the elders, his girth does. He is not "fat", but rather it is the muscle that adds the width, his shoulders are broad and his arms thick. As before, it is his mass that sets him apart because he is bigger then the other warriors that way.. I hope you understand what I'm saying, maybe Ishould try to draw a pic... Thats all I got for now, and of course.. MDRud216 can over rule any of this, this is just what I gathered from our conversation over PM last night. Shadow of the Fallen
:D I will go up against any number of vampires, even if I should be the only remaining gaurdian, I would hunt them to the ends of the earth. I highly encourage any player who so desires to sign up as a vampire, in hopes that eventually one can pose a problem for me.. It is good however, to have an ally in the fight.. While he remains a mystery, I know he will be a valuble friend and warrior. Alla Stoccata!
MDRud216
PC fighting will be encouraged!! but nothing lethal will come out of it, remember both Gaurdian's and Vampires are intolerable of sunlight... all of this will be explained through the stoyline though. just a note: I will not start this unless we have a minimum of 5 vamps and 5 Gaurdian's, I will have a char, but you will not know what side he is on until I decide you will.
