Circuitous
Works just fine here. I'm actually going to the trouble of making static-y _mono.wav's too.
Guest
But, how can I change the songs that play on the radio? Does anyone know? I placed some sublime and tech n9ne in the folder. But, that didn't cure the 60's make me wanna stab my own face off issue. Please help! =) Sorry, but you're an idiot. If you really need to listen to the same music you listen to every other day while playing fallout, go into options, turn down the music volume and make a playlist in media player/winamp/songbird whatever. oh by the way, the music is closer to late 40s early 50s, but yeah I didn't expect you to have a clue anyway. Roflcore
Does not work for me, any suggestions?
deatheater
.... just listen to your hand held mp3 player, cd player or stereo.. or even in the background of your computer play your music. seems a lot easier, and you can play whatever you want and probably already have it set up... different radio stations i can understand, but if you already have the music why the fuss to make the game do extra work? (well i guess not technically, but anyways..)
Roflcore
Because I replaced the orginal music with the fallout soundtrack and want to simply turn on extra "combat" music (for e.g. "Geto Boys - Still" if I going to use a baseball bat on somebody) when it fits. and only then. using winamp would: make me lose control over my media buttons (as winamp would control them and I wouldn't be able to use them on fallout 3) or force me the alt + tab if something doesn't fit. using the ingame radio would be much easier. I tried like it was posted, but it doesn't work, and even if it would: ignoring older files makes using mods impossible, so that aint a sollution. No need to be such a technical a-hole Harry, after all the timeline is set 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse... 2 centuries is a very long time for music to change ya know (just compare 1800's music to 2000's music). Anyways, I've tried editing my own songs (mostly from DJ Cut Chemist since his style uses old-time samples somewhat appropriate for the FO series) and it works perfectly fine. Another neat feature I noticed is that the radio from your pipboy automatically creates static white noise over the mp3 files you replaced the originals with. Some might not like the fuzzy sound over the music, but I think it's a nice touch for the immersion of playing FO3. Plus, it's kinda cool for Three Dog to broadcast his thoughts, and then introduce a non-rapped over track from Jurassic 5 :) Also, could anyone give me the list of all the radio track names in the Data/Sound/Songs/Radio/Licensed directory? I have FO3 downloaded from Steam and for some reason the original mp3 track listing isn't in the Data folder. I had to manually create a "radio" folder and rename the custom songs I wanted to the track titles already posted in this thread. Could someone post the mp3 filenames of all the tracks for the Enclave radio station (not just mus_enclave_america.mp3, but the rest of them as well). EDIT: Another request, could I get the filenames of the crappy violin songs playing on Agatha's radio station?
Circuitous
The issue with listening to music out-of-game is that you lose the DJ. Should've been obvious, really. My static-laden .wav files ended up being unlistenable because of the existing static from the radios - whoops. Also, my volume edits via Audacity ended up making them obscenely quiet, but that seems to be based more on the station's signal (I'm early in the game still and listening from Megaton - right outside the station, however, the music volume seems appropriate, but still quieter than Three-Dog). I won't spoil anything for you (although not much to spoil really), but there is a quest you can do for Three Dog when you reach the GNR building to improve his broadcast signal and reach all of the Capital Wasteland without the static noise you sometimes hear (such as near parts of Megaton). The closer you are to the GNR building, the better reception you'll get on your pipboy's radio. How to replace the radio music in the game:ErIog posted: I just accomplished a full radio replacement by throwing in random music, renaming it all to fall in line with stuff in the BSA's, and then making sure the timestamps were ahead of the files from the BSA's. Here's a list of all the stereo radio tracks in Data/Sound/Songs/Radio/Licensed mus_bobcrosby_happy.mp3 mus_bobcrosby_way.mp3 mus_coleporter_anything.mp3 mus_dannykaye_civilization.mp3 mus_ellafitzgerald_into.mp3 mus_generic_boogie.mp3 mus_generic_fox.mp3 mus_generic_jazzy.mp3 mus_generic_jolly.mp3 mus_generic_pink.mp3 mus_generic_rhythmforyou.mp3 mus_generic_sunning.mp3 mus_generic_swingdoors.mp3 mus_inkspots_idont.mp3 mus_inkspots_maybe.mp3 mus_roybrown_butcher.mp3 mus_roybrown_mighty.mp3 mus_texbeneke_guy.mp3 As I was listening to Galaxy News Radio, I noticed a song that Three Dog put on that wasn't replaced by any of the track names listed above. I think this is the only song not listed above for GNR radio. Sorry for the constant requests, but does anyone know the mp3 filename of this particular track? nulloperations
Just added a quick mod that makes replacing these music files pretty easy, at least for enclave. Link in comment. You'll have to modify mp3's to wav's though if you want to hear them out in the world.
