What if there were a Skyrim mod wiki?

  1. 1. Would you like to see a Skyrim mod wiki?

  2. 2. Would you contribute to the wiki?

    • I doubt it
    • I'd be happy to add articles
    • I'd be happy to add information to existing articles
    • I'd be happy to help manage the wiki
    • Yes, in any way I could!

As more and more complex mods get released, it seems that one thing that is missing is a UESP.net equivalent for modded content. There is of course the Nexus wiki, which is a great resource, but tends to be primarily focused on this website and NMM. What I'd like to see is a wiki where users can look up mods they're running (or considering running) to find in-depth information on overviews, conflicts, walkthroughs, and bugs.

There would be a lot of advantages to a system like this. For instance:

-It would allow users to get a sense of a mod's compatibility with their game without having to skim over countless pages of comments.

-It would provide a resource for users who are experiencing problems with a certain mod before contacting the author, who is probably quite busy and doesn't necessarily have time to respond to every question they receive.

-It would work to inform users about mods they may not be aware of, possibly because they're hosted on sites they don't visit frequently (or at all).

-It would provide additional feedback to mod authors, and added impetus for mod authors to address major issues (bugs, conflicts, etc.) with their works.

These are just a few examples of how a resource like this could benefit the community. So I'm curious, is this something you would like to see? And do you think you'd be willing to contribute to such a project?

On a personal note, between work and my mods, I'm not in a position to take the lead on something like this. I would, however, be willing to contribute in any my schedule allows. I'm mostly just floating the question to gauge interest, and to possibly inspire the community to take it upon themselves to make this crazy dream of mine a reality. :)

I like your crazy dream, sir. It would be a huge project, but it would also be hugely useful. A centralized, standardized repository of mod information... Man, I'm fantasizing. (Especially about the "bugs" section. I hate having to be so wary.) I'm personally too meek to take much of a lead role in something I'm not that knowledgeable about, but I'd certainly be happy to do mid-level minion work for such a noble project.

I would definitely want that and use it, I think a wiki would be more of a team work anyway. My husband got a few websites and I have one as well but I don't really know how a wiki work in term of site building because I wouldn't mind own one and let the community host their mod infos on it. I would be interested *monitoring* it but I think for the rest, the author needs to want his/her mod there first, and then after that, people could post their infos on the discussion tab and the moderator could just post informations that seems legit. I wouldn't mind doing that job for an hour a day, it would take time at first for sure.

Edit: It could also be useful for people who are looking for possible walkthrough with quests mods, I know that in my mod, some stuff aren't as clear as they can be and a wiki could help with that.
