vardath
I'm basically thinking that it would be nice, and lore appropriate, if each of the major holds had a temple to one of the divines, Falkreath quite obviously should have a temple to Arkay for example. It would also be nice to have people scripted to visit these temples on specific days, and a quest to visit each temple, a pilgrimage if you will, with a permanent reward (stats skills or items). Morrowind had a huge pilgrimage quest which was made more pilgrimagey due to the lack of fast travel, so perhaps disable fast travel for the duration of the quest. Anyway... just a thought. Daedric shrines would be nice too, Morrowind style :)
ElizaW
For that matter, I'd like to become a Mara priestess...
littleork
I'm going to add temples in Skyrim in a side project, not sure about quests, but will give them buffs that they can get from shrines, praying altars and donations bowls, will definitely populate them and if I can make it happen with my skill set, give some of the current npcs a schedule so they will go there. Pentigan
As long as the temples fit the overall style of the hold capital they are put into this would be an excellent idea. Of course a fair few of the cities do actually have temples for specific Divines: Riften has the Temple of Mara, Windhelm has a Shrine of Talos (Which could use improvement), Whiterun has the Temple of Kynareth and the Gildergreen, Falkreath is pretty much an entire town themed around Arkay, Marcath has the Temple of Dibella and Solitude has the Temple of the Divines (which basically makes it the Temple of Akatosh). That only leaves Dawnstar, Morthal and Winterhold to share the remaining four Divines. Hm... That might be a problem.

That's only if you decide to put the temple in the towns, nothing is stopping you from putting them in the wilderness.
