The Elder Council Quest

Dear Myrmaad,

Okay, I figured out what to do: here are the screenshots that will allow you to know exactly where the door in question is. Also I took screenshots of the pop-up output from both FormID spells. I reduced them in size to 24x24 pixels, but you can still see them okay. Hope this helps!

Good job, I just wish you hadn't reduced them quite so much, but that's just because I can't see.

Well, crappola. This is a door from a "Parented Object", thus it was definitely added by a mod.

Let me do a bit of sleuthing.

Ok, I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that door you have there, is not in my game.

It is not added by The Elder Council Mod v1.9.

I think it would be best to update to V1.9, you won't have to start over and it won't hurt your progress at all, and the overhaul and resource packs are beyond fabulous, you'll love them!

Other than that, I think I'm done here.

I have been checking your load order again. And it is like mymaad says that door is probably added by another mod. It is not in my game either. also you may want to use a program like fcom helper or boss helper to sort out some of your load order.

Servant of the Dawn.esp Does edit the imperial palace. Could this be it ??

And what does this mod do ??

ImpeREAL City Unique Districts - All the Districts - Merged.esp

Does this edit the palace too in anyway ??

Argh, I didn't give up.

I'm about 80% sure that this door is added by "EmperorMod.esp"

I'm actually in the CS now and I believe I have the parent of the door in question.

ICPalaceIntLoadDoor01 - 000FFA77

Now to follow it to the culprit.

I can't read this number:

0003AC55?? or 0003AC33?

Ok, it's 0003AC55 but in my game it's not parented to the other door, and I've now installed the EmperorMod.esp as well, and it's still not parented to that other palace door. It's got to be another mod doing it then.

I have had another look throgh your load order, there are one or two mods that i don't recognise.

But Servant Of The Dawn is know to conflict with TEC, although i have not heard of this particular issue, you mat find that it is the culprit.

Unfortunately once you have a game with SOTD installed you cannot deactivate it without the game cdting all the time.

the only other culprit besides SoD that i see could be this mod:

Martins Reserved Palace http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12569

Description:

Though Martin Septim never really made it as Emperor, his Palace was reserved for him nonetheless. Accessible in the Imperial Palace, near the main entrance, the Reserved Palace has Martin's favored Chapel, Mage room, Dining room, Bedroom, Store room, Bath with grotto, a working oven, and Courtyard with doors leading outside. He would have wanted the Champion of Cyrodiil to live in it after saving his life on many occasions.

Dear Purple Gandalf and Nevin Miller, Esq:

I tried disabling both Servant of the Dawn and Martin's Reserved Palace and the locked door was still there. Thanks anyway!

Disabling if it was created by a mod, not necessarily undo changes in save game. Some times permanent damage is left in check. And no matter how many mods you disable it will always remain like that. The only way to fully test for sure is revert to an old game and test it again.

Dear Dzorro,

I don't think I still have any saved games from before I installed Martin's Reserved Palace.

Given that I have already pickpocketed my way in and started playing TEC, I think that I will leave it at that. I like Martin's Reserved Palace as an additional set of rooms and it doesn't seem to be conflicting in any other way with TEC. In fact, it is very much in the same spirit of making the Imperial Palace more interesting and useful.

We have already determined that it is not the TEC mod that is at fault for the locked door, so I think I will just thank all of you for your help and play my game as is. I have really been enjoying the TEC mod in the interim and I don't seem to be having any additional problems, so I should stop bothering you guys with this silly problem now that we have figured out how to work around it.

Thanks, again, to everyone on this forum! I have really learned a lot about taking screenshots and identifying items in the meanwhile!
