Your favourite weapon in Fallout 3?

Personally I've loved the Flamethrower the most. After finding the Burnmaster especially. I even got the perk that gives higher damage with flame weapons just so I could toast baddies even quicker. I especially enjoy using it for the interiors of buildings and subways because the spread on the flames covers most corridors and small rooms which means less wasted fuel. I also found that cover is all but ignored when using a flamethrower. If a raider is hiding behind some over turned desk or similar barricade it doesn't do him any good because the flames just go up, over and through those types of defenses.

 

Other than that I would say that I like the hunting rifle next with Lincolns' repeater in third place. The hunting rifle is, in my opinion, the quintessential Fallout weapon. It's low tech, moderately powerful, has good range and aesthetically it just looks like it belongs in the Fallout Universe. I don't really know how to describe it but that gun just feels right.

 

I haven't really found a weapon that I dislike though which is quite a feat. I typically don't use any laser or plasma based weapons and I tend to stay away from the FatMan and Missle Launchers but in general I think they all have their own unique appeal.

I also like the Wazer Wifle.

I like the really accurate weapons that aren't overly powerful.

Well actually if you are a good shot or just really lucky you can shoot a grenade that is in an enemies hand right before he/she throws it which then causes a rather humorous explosion. Also you can shoot grenades while they are still in mid air after being thrown which has saved me a couple of times.

Yeah I know, I routinely shoot weapons out of enemy hands.

Those enemies with rocket launchers are so much easier to deal with when their launcher is broken and they run at you to punch you instead.

Plus, enemy big guns often have very low condition, so they break after just one to three shots.

I discovered the trick with grenades after I found I could shoot their weapons, and later found out it works on grenades too, in a different way.

Very fun, but I find planting them on enemies even more fun.

Agreed. Watching as an NPC frantically tries to find the grenade in their pants seconds before they go BOOM is quite the chuckle inducing experience.

Found quite a few wepons so far, and not even started doing the main quest yet, playing mostly a good character but I have my evil moments just depends how I feel at the time hehe :whistling: Playing on very hard with an xp mod that reduces xp you get from anything and increases xp you need to level, which is perfect for me I like to take it slow and explore.

 

My favorite wepons so far have to be:

 

The Nuka Grenade - just love the explosion, best moment Ive had with one of these was entering GermanTown Police HQ and after listening to the 2 supermutants amusing conversation I sneaked and hid behind the wall and Cautious was flashing on the screen I remained still and eventualy became hidden again was so funny listening to them thinking they hear sounds. After a little while of hiding I stand up enter vats instantly and lob a Nuka Grenade between both of them. Was hillarious, they never knew what hit them.

 

The Flamer - Nothing beats sneaking up on raiders and incinerating them alive.

 

The Gatling Gun and Shishkebab (my #1 wepon) - Made a fresh save and decided to unleash some carnage in megaton at level 5. This didnt count towards my main game hehe, was just some fun. Fully medicated and 20 stim packs ready lol I lob a nuka grenade between Simms and Jehrico expecting both to die Jehrico manages to still live hes a tough SoB so I bring out the gatling gun and start to unleash the carnage on everyone lol and much more fun out of vats with that wepon, the ammo for the gatling finaly runs out and now the fun can begin with the shesekebab. This sword feels like something out of devil may cry and a great wepon to watch in VATS. Killed most of the megaton citizins with that sword even Stockholm the sniper came down from his perch lol. Mother Maya was the hardest to kil that female dog wouldnt die lol. All that was left at the end was some flaming corpses I even killed that mutated bull for kicks, its head came clean off, Couldnt kill those 2 kids though which sucked. Karma at the end of the massacre went from Good to Very Evil lol.

 

Sawed-Off Shotgun - Love traversing the wastelands mad max style with this wepon, love the sound it makes and how you have to reload it after 2 shots makes it a bit more risky, takes heads clean off at close range.

 

Do wish some of the wepon in Fallout 3 have secondary fire options like for example the Sawed-off Shotgun could fire either 1 or 2 shells at once, and full or semi automatic fire on rapid fire wepons.

Lol if you made a top 10 list you could get every weapon from the small arms and most of heavy weapons lol.

Like most of the posters I thoroughly enjoy the Hunting Rifle, I got Ol'Painless and Blackhawk in combination with Wasteland Armory Upgrade mod. The rifle is used for snipes and the blackhawk for medium range, in short range I rely on 'The Terrible Shotgun' which just has sick damage.

 

On the few occasions that I find myself in a raider outpost I go commando style with a combat knife and a bunch of frag-mines :3

 

Last but not least, ricocheting a grenade into a room to see guts and limbs fly out shortly after = win. Always makes me go 'Hehe potatoes' irl, just like the muties say it :P
