A New Conjuration System.

Hi everyone,

 

I just had an idea while playing and using conjuration for the first time in Skyrim.

 

.: Bannend Mod :. (Means summoner in Old English)

 

The idea is quite simple but i can't seem to find a mod that is similar to it, there it is :

 

Now there is two kind of Conjuration magic in Skyrim !

Summoning demand a great deal of mental concentration, its not easy to keep the balance between magicka cost and summoning time.

Summoning or Link-Summoning ; the choice is yours, summon a creature from Oblivion for a magicka cost or summon it with a mental link at the cost of your mana pool !

Summoning cost a net amount of mana and does not affect your maximum mana pool. But comes at the cost of summoning time (60-120 sec.).

While Link-Summoning considerably reduce your maximum mana pool with the benefit of a permanent summon (until dismissed).

Keep in mind that Link-Summoning should be mostly designed for Fighter/Summoner/hybrid play style.

 

(This mod make all conjuration minions, to act like Thrall.)

1 - This mod does not do any modifications on existing Conjuration books/spells/perks effects. But add new books/spells and perks effects.

 

[note] This is important, because not all class and play style would like to use this new conjuration mechanism (Link-Summoning). It may not be good for Pure Mages.

 

2 - Add alternate spells/books for atronachs summoning and keep the normal/vanilla conjuration spells unchanged.

 

[Note] Permanent atronachs, casting cost is replace with reduced maximum magicka until it is dismiss or killed.

 

3 - No time limit for the new (permanent) atronachs spells/books, they stay with you until they die or being dismiss.

 

[Note] Vanilla summoning spells can still be castes but can't be dismiss and are not permanent.

 

4 - Modification to the "Astromancy" perk to : "Link Mastery" perk.

 

[Definition] - Double duration for normal conjured atronachs.

- Give immediately back the spell magicka cost when dismissing a permanent atronach.

 

[Note] Without the "Link Mastery" perk, you can get back you maximum magika once your summon is dismissed but DO NOT instantly recover your magicka.

Instead, it replenish over time !

 

5 - Modification to the "Twin Soul" perk to : "Master Bannend" perk.

 

[Definition] - You can have two normal atronachs or reanimated zombies.

- You can summon more permanent atronachs.

 

[Note] - You can't summon a permanent atronach when you have a normal one already summoned.

- The Link Mastery perk should let you summon a limited number of atronachs : About 1-2 Master, 1-3 expert, 1-4 adept, 1-5 apprentice and novice, for a maximum of five.

- Balanced Mana cost is essential.

 

6 - "Novice Conjuration" to "Master Conjuration" perks should be modified to reduce in half the magicka needed to keep the link with a permanent atronach.

 

[Definition] - Cast normal [level ]conjuration spells for half magicka.

- Summon [level] permanent atronach for half magicka.

 

[Note] They still reduce normal spells casting cost by half.

 

7 - Magicka cost for permanent summoning should be quite high and become worst the stronger the summons are.

 

[Note] The "Novice Conjuration" [...] "Expert Conjuration" perks help by reducing by half the cost, but it should still be quite high.

 

8- A new ability "Break Link" that use no Magicka can be found in your character magic menu skills page.

 

[Definition] This ability is to be used for dismissing your summons. And recover your maximum mana at once IF you have "Link Mastery" perk.

 

 

 

[Additional note] Finally it would be even better if the conjuration skills could have a very small chance to increase when your summon hit a target.

Because you are casting less conjuration spells which means your skill won't increase (i think).

[Note] Theses numbers are completely arbitrary.

 

I am level 14 and i have 100 Magicka pool, i have "Adept Conjuration" perk (Half summoning cost).

 

- I summon permanent Fire Atronach.

- It remove 50 mp from my maximum Magicka pool.

- I now have 50 Magicka to use as spell caster etc.

- My Atronach stay until it die, if it doesn't then it stay and follow me for an unlimited time.

- After the fight i cast "Break Link" it dismiss it.

- My maximum magicka increase by 50, but it need to replenish over time.

- Now my maximum mana pool is back to 100 but is not completely available for magic casting (it must replenish).

I am level 40 and i have a large mana pool (350), i have the "Master Conjurer" and "Link Mastery" perks.

 

- I summon two master atronach, they use 250 of my mana pool. I can't afford to cast a third master level summon.

I cast instead an expert level atronach using 80 magicka, i now have 20 mana left to use for casting normal spells.

- One of my master atronach die, my maximum mana pool instantly increase by 125.

- I recover instantly 125 magicka with the "Link Mastery" perk no need for it to replenish.

- The fight is over, and i dismiss the remaining summons with "Break Link".

- My maximum mana pool is back to 350 and available for magic casting.

I'm tired of being an Hybrid class, and removing my shield every 120 seconds to cast conjuration again, aren't you ?
