bullitmagnet
Hi,I recently installed fallout 3 on my computer and it is doing what a LOT of people have experienced from what my googling has ascertained and having the secure rom protection asking for a disc. i will try to explain exactly my situation as it is somewhat unusual. first of all, i do not have a dvd drive in my computer as i had to take it could to allow a hard drive to be plugged in so i could install my games to it. so, after a little trial and error i figured out how to use my laptop to be the pc's dvd drive to install it and though that i would be a.ok with it all... i was not as the fallout launcher obviously does not read that as a proper drive. I have read that i could just use the fallout3.exe but that doesn't work either as i believe i have to run the launcher at least once for it to do some file thingies (yes, that is the technical term, i swear) and the same goes for using fomm with the script extender. I know that there is a less than genuine route i could follow if i was both brave and desperate enough but i am not wanting to go down that route as i have the damn disc sitting in front of me right now. would anyone know a way to get my pc to recognize the dvd or have a imaginative idea that i haven't come across yet? thank youBullitmagenet

Purr4me
Region your in.Operating system your running?DVD versions second disc is not compatible with windows 10 period.yes, the nexus has workarounds available. Region UKOS Win 7 ProGame of the Year Version which if memory serves is already at 1.7 Due to what you said about the cd-rom reader issues, your in a tight spot.In order to allow secur-rom to install the second disc and I am NOT recommending this, is to completely disable the UAC controls and security on the OS. that going to leave your PC wide open to assault from the networks. Rght click the task bar, select properties.go to the startup tab, disable msce I believe ? I do not remember windows 7 items too well. But. you need to shut down security. you need to set the UAC to the lowest level possible.reboot.you DO need a DVD-rom reader installed into the chassis of that PC, networking will be vulnerable. You need to think clearly. once that abortion of product does it's thing, and installs the second dic assets, you need to reverse all that was done before. DO NOT forget that. Undue all you did to get that second disc installed.put every thing back the way it is supposed to be and download and install the patch from either site I indicated here in the links provided. OR some one can gift the game to you from steam, or GOG. GOG preferred.

bullitmagnet
what i could really do with is an alternate launcher or something that will allow me to do all the settings fallout 3 needs without using the normal launcher. Hell i'd be ok with doing whatever it requires manually if there was a guide to do it. Its just bugging me as i dont have another way i can actually play the game. i dont know what else to do really, i dont have a usb external dvd drive to hand (hence using my laptop as the external drive but the securom dosnt see my network drive as being part of my computer

Purr4me
Now. IF you own a thumb drive that can hold all the data, I suggest you use the laptop to install the full game onto that usb thumb drive and by pass all the other things I spoke of here. NOW, you have all of the game in one spot that will operate on the desktop chassis just fine.Just copy the files to the hard drive on the desktop PC game location and overwrite. and your good to go.
