jallard
Hi Folks! I have been working on creating a follower and everything works fine except in game the face and the body doesn't match the tones are totally off. I know that you are suppose to highlight your follower's name in the object window and press "CTRL>F4." But it isn't working. I have even tried changing the skin tone fro #1 to #2, for example and pressing "CTRL>F4 and it still isn't working. Moreover, The lip color never changes either. Con some assist please? Thank you. JallardCtrl + F4 does work you have to wait for it, it takes a little while. and you must not have you npc in the world first. you must Ctrl F4 first then place your npc. In fact, it was at the beginning of a fresh clean reinstall of the game and the Creation Kit: And, the only mod that had been installed was ApachiiSkyHair. And, I have known about Ctrl + F4 for several months now. But, thanks for responding all the same. Edited February 25, 2013 by jallard
Carah
I sometimes have this issue with Ctrl+F4 not working if I have any custom face tint and warpaint installed. I usually take them out if I'm changing an NPC's facial features. If it still doesn't work I'll change my NPC's lip colour to something extreme like neon green then hit Ctrl+F4. That usually works for me also.
VectorPlexus
OMG IT'S SHE-RA! =D <3 Anyway... Have you at least tried to CTRL+F4, because I just got my Oui'ja Board and checked with the spirits in the great beyond, and they told me that inside Skyrim - Textures.BSA, there's a bunch of DDS in: \textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\skyrim.esm so, its irrelevant if the game is new or not. Odds are, one of them will be for the NPC you are trying to edit, and the game when looking for a particular file, starts by checking your Data folder, if it doesnt find it, then starts looking in the BSA. The game is smart! :psyduck: Edited February 25, 2013 by VectorPlexus

The game is smart! :psyduck: After much trial and heck of a lot of errors. I am thoroughly convinced that you cannot make changes to NPCs. I have been at it today for 12 hours fiddle frigging around with trying to change the NPCs that I wanted to change. Changing vanilla hair to ApachiiSkyHair as well as eyeshadow, lip gloss and blush. The CK does not like ApachiiSkyHair and will not show it an either the full body or the head render windows. I went in game to check what I had created and the one NPC was two-toned and bald. All I know how to do is make the changes, press Ctrl + F4 and save. Beyond that i don't know anything about creating BSA files. I am not a quitter, but this is ridiculous. As you say apparently I am not smart enough to figure things out. Then again I am 66 years old and that is my one and only excuse.
VectorPlexus
Maybe you should also take a better look at how you responded to KnightRanger aswell, because quite frankly I think it was rude the way you wrote. But putting that aside, Its just your game then, maybe you have some problems in your game files, maybe there is some other mod making that happen... I have no idea... all I know is that I can do it on my installation. Specially facegen/tints shenanigan, can be changed at any time, with or without a fresh install. Other things though, can't, because when the game loads a NPC for the first time, gets the information from the Actor Form, which is not changeable. In general, everything that is an exterior asset (files like textures, tints, skeletons) can be changed at any time. And besides those there are many other things that can be changed aswell. Some of them might require you to enable and disable the NPC through the console, though And I have no problem with loading Apachii Hair aswell, although on the head preview it floats way up the head, its still perfectly usable, and you can make mods that have apachiihair ESM as a master file. I have a mods that change weight/tint/hair that are working perfectly fine. So, my advise is, maybe check for integrity in your game files/re-install or maybe disable mods. I just finished trying to change Mjoll. Here's what I did with only the ApachiiSkyHair mod installed: At first I just changed her vanilla hair to an Apachii Sky Hair style. I started a a new game jumped to Riften and she appeared as I had intended. I then went back into the CK and changed her Eyeliner to a custom color, as I did with the blush and the lip gloss. I even removed her warpaint. I went back into the game to see if the custom colors were there and lo and behold she was colorless. Just as bland as could be. Now, I have uninstalled both the game and the creation kit several times and nothing changes. Apparently for me I can do whatever I want with the NPC except make any cosmetic color changes. As I said, I have been working on this since 2:00AM this morning and it is now 3:39PM here in Portland, OR USA. Am I a little frustrated, absolutely! And, if I seem a little short, I apologize. jallard
For all intent and purposes everyone the two mods that were effecting my NPC remakes were "UFO" and "Housecarl Sandbox Fix."
