Ayanro
I took the shirt from the Superman mod, converted it to a bitmap so I could edit it in Paint, and then converted it back to a proper file and created a seperate file for the shirt. The shirt appears fine with the texture in NifSkope, but does not appear at all in the CS or the game.
dezdimona
you need to create an ID for it in the CS
Ayanro
Hmm. I'll try that, though I sword I did make an ID... Maybe something else is going on, or I just missed a step.
Khet
Make sure you saved the texture to the Nif. This can be done in Nifskope by loading your mesh, followed by your desired Texture then click on Save up near the top. This will save the texture file to the Nif so it can be viewed in-game or in the CS. I assume this could be your problem so give that a shot and let me know. Ayanro
I saved all the textures to the NIF and made sure the directory was okay, but it still does not appear. Could there be something about the texture the CS and the game don't like?
dezdimona
you said you created a seperate file,do you mean a mesh and a texture file just for that one item? If so you need to create an esp for that item also and place the item in game, before it will show up in game or add it to the esp you got the shirt from if your using that mod
Ayanro
Yeah, a texture/mesh in the same folder as the original. It will not show up in CS for me to add it.
Khet
Ahh, now there's the issue. You gotta create an entirely new item. To do this, right click on any armor (since you're going to be making an armor piece), then click on Edit. From there, give the item a uniqueID, then over to the right click on the TOP filepath (this is the mesh/texture path, the bottom one is for inventory icon) and then browse to your .nif. Once you do that, simply say okay and then click YES for making a new form ID. IF YOU DO NOT CLICK YES YOU WILL ALTER THE ITEM YOU WERE EDITING AND CHANGE EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME! Sorry for the caps and bold but it's very important you click yes when it asks to make a new formID. Once you have that finished, find the item in the object window (sometimes you have to click on the category, so in this case Armor) and then find the ID of the item you just made. Drag it into the render window. One of two things will happen here. The item will appear perfectly on your screen just how it should, OR it will appear purple. If it's purple then you've made the mistake of not applying the texture to the .nif. But, all you would need to do is go into Nifskope and apply the texture (and since you have the armor made in the CS you should just have to update it by deleting and re-dragging the item and it should work)
Ayanro
I tried it, but nothing still showed up. I even created seperate folders for the texture and the mesh. Maybe there's something about the texture file type it doesn't like? Because I think the root of the problem has to do with the texture and something about it that's off. dezdimona
well they have to be in seperate folders. Meshes go into data\meshes\clothes\your clothestextures go in Data\textures\clothes\your clothes...just examples. now once your mesh and texture are in "your" data folder, not "bethesda's" data folder then click on your mesh to bring it up in Nifscope, and then click on the shirt and reattach your texture path. Then open the cs, update your ID of the item , update the esp.If you continue to have problems PM me the mesh and texture, and I'll create an esp and put the item in a chest in the IC market district for you!
