Morrowind and it's much needed update

I've decided to, in a way, redo Morrowind. I accept the criticism that i will, no doubt, get for even thinking of such a venture.

The main thing that will will be done is:

-the remodeling of everything in the game, including textures.

-revamping of the body system, this includes the introduction of different body shapes

-gameplay refinement

The body models will be replaced, once i have proof of concept of what i can do i'll request the use of Alien Slof and Roberts male and female bodies as well as numerous others, such as Eyecandy and Fantasy Figures for use with different races. They'll be rerigged to a very complex skeleton with many bones close to the surface of the skin. Through changing the animation file of any given npc, they can have a new body shape, body language, be pregnant, perpetually hover (not levitate), turn into a bat, melt, if an animation can be made for it, it can happen. Clothing and armor can fit any and all npcs, being rigged to the same skeleton.

Each type of armor will also have many cosmetic and functional variants. In reality, not all steel longswords look the same, why should they in a game?

But really, the point of this thread is to ask the community for help. Any suggestions, comments, help, etc. is appreciated. I'd like to know what you want from this, what you didn't like in vanilla Morrowind.

This mod is in concept stage, as nothing is the game would look very good now without some tweaking in design. Like glass armor. >.<

For a look at the concept art that i've had the time to put on the net click here.

Sorry for the block of text. : /

Sounds like you have pretty much mapped out what you will be doing with the rest of your life. An interesting idea, but, what you propose doing will take thousands of hours of work. and for a game, admittedly a great game, that is slowly fading. If you are doing this to learn how, great, go ahead. If you are doing it because you think the gaming community will thank you and download it in droves, find an easier project.

There are - or have been, several teams with experienced programmers who have already attempted what you propose to do alone. There are huge advantages to working alone, no compromises with others, your ideas are the ones that get acted on, no petty spats with team members, nobody quits in a huff, and team members don't just vanish with no notice. And you don't have to share the glory with anyone else.

For examples of what one modder can do alone, see Quartz's Glenvar Castle, dtom's Verona House, Bloodlines. Liquidgraphics Lost Spires and williesea's ancient spires.

There are also disadvantages - nobody to help with the sticky parts, nobody to share the load, no fresh ideas when you run out, nobody to pick up the pieces when you get fed up. The original game is the best example of team programming.

Personally, I prefer to work alone. But I also prefer smaller projects with clearly defined goals and benchmarks.

A suggestion. Instead of trying to do the whole thing in one huge mod, make a series of smaller mods, each one tied to the bigger goal of a total remake. And each one able to stand on its own.

Please don't think I am putting you down for this. I think it is a great idea and applaud you for even thinking about it. I hope you succeed. I would really like to see a remake of Morrowind with the improvements you propose.

Ya I will most likely still be playing aswell, I have a pretty fast computer but with all the junk I got on it, Oblivion is slow, so I play Morrowind because it seemingly lagless.

This project is a great idea, I hope it works, and ya you might just want to do it in small mods, but if you ever need a hint or tip ask me.
