my win10 crashed, re-installed all, but i know the cse isn't taking. help.

the most current version of everything were already preserved in a 7zip file that i just dumped into my dir. This was after installing the CS. Re-dumped the CSE and re-checked that OBSE-loader was the target w/ -editor ... this is frustrating.

keep loading the CS and the simple fact i see the "find" option isn't removed, i know b4 even loading anything, something isn't right.

i think i need a 1-2 idiot guide real quick on just the installation procedure, talk to me like i'm an infant, ... i'm really frustrated as of having to re-install my entire OS. let's not talk about that.

Start out with complete system specs.

hardware, location of games, and tools used.

i'm not sure how the system specifications are going to help, when everything was running fine from before ... nothing has changed that i can think of, unless i'm missing a language package. which that is going to show in my specifications. albeit, i need help.

Location: I've created a secondary partition in which i place all third party software. game and an iso that i couldn't use for specific reasons are kept on secondary drive. i use a registry hack to gain ownership to all directories/sub-directories/files if thrown a security error ... usually solves the problem.

My Specifics with the software and load order as well as target re-directs:

obse_0021 is already extracted into the Oblivion directory, along w/ all the dll's even though i'm not using the Steam version.

Install TES4_Construction_Set_1.2.404 first.
Second, Extract CSE 8.1-36370-8-1 into the Oblivion directory. Run the .bat file w/ administrator privileges.

Redirect the target for the TES4_CS: In this case, "D:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe" -editor.

i've already altered the compatibility settings to "run as administrator" anything that messes w/ the game. (ie. TES4_CS, OBMM, Oblivion executable, 7zip, ... etc)

I honestly feel like i'm missing some language pack and not being prompted.

Perhaps that's what my question should have been. Is there a language dependency package for the CSE? (ie. VB++ redistr, C++, Python, ... etc)

I'm just at a mental break, three days of getting my system just perfect only to be halted in my steps by something put into a archive and decompressed back the way it was.

Now, you have a massive permission issue. So, that being the case you wasted a lot of time.

I understand it may seem cool and seems t work, but that software is not going to care.

 

2nd. right click the start button and select run

in that box type ---- winver just the word.

Windows 10 Pro is set to not allow obsolete programs to run, even during an install it will delete things on the fly.

So, your missing software from the installer of the game and kit's.

Mine came with a multi fold case, a bag, and a few other items as I collect games, paraphernalia.

 

My daughter has all of the "toys" on her dresser and on the wall in her room.

But, I need to know for sure where the game came from. each source is different.

the reg hack simply does what i was already doing, giving myself ownership as the admin ... this is a private network and not suggested for users on a public one. i reviewed it before applying, it was exactly what i was doing, among some gpedit stuff ... i like being in control of my own stuff irrelevant of how ignorant others might think of me. i paid for it right ... redundant.

3rd party tweaks, i've taken my copy of the pc ver of oblivion and created an iso of it. i simply mount it. it's always worked. i don't want to use my dvd writers needlessly. windows 10 provides an easy way to do this, simply double click on it, prior to that i was using Daemon Tools. It works - this is not a logical route for solution. yet, i understand, i did post this under newb section. perhaps someone else will read and learn.

not the case, as i said b4, this is the same system, version and all ... down to the root core. the entire betheseda directory was a working directory and the user/games directory is something i had to copy/paste. the game works fine with all mods, no re-order, no modifications what-so-ever. it's TES4-CS in conjunction w/ the The Construction Extender (TSE).

TSE isn't taking. Normally, the find button is removed. the data file can be expanded. i don't get a butt-load of errors.

perhaps my post should be re-directed. I'm copying and pasting to the authors of TSE.

secondly if I understand you correctly, you are using an iso mounted game?

 

There is currently even a newer version release yet to be investigated of windows 10.

 

That can not be written too. this may be whats going on. an ISO image is write protected.

Tools, what ever they may be needs to write t the games directory.

 

But ! if all your doing is copy and pasting the game onto a fresh OS and NOT installing? then you have big problems.

the installer needs to write to the OS.

 

The current system in use to day your tweaks will not work any more, perhaps that's one reason your staying put with 1809 Oct 2nd 2018 which I fully understand.

 

The procedure your talking about I have done myself as well years ago.

For convenience sake that was at the time.

 

Your PC is more than adequate to upgrade t the latest version of windows 10 so why wait. the newest version has game support.

you need to install the game normally. I popped in a old drive with that version of windows, installed the game on it. used daemon tools to create the iso image. save all path statments and ziped them up to a usb drive.

 

Uninstalled the game, remove all traces of all entries using other tools and rebooted. Mounted the image, copied the image t the C"\games directory I used for temp storage for this experiment.

 

extracted the zip file nto C:\users\myname\content related folders.

 

No go, game is not installed.

CS no go, game is not installed.

 

yeah you got problems I can not nor am I allowed to assit you with.
