Suitable Cave Home?

I am attempting to learn how to Mod....been watching a bunch of Tutorials, etc... And though I have greater plans, I want to start basic to get my bearings in the CK....I want to start with a Cave Home for my Werewolf/Alchemist Dovahkin and have figured the best route to take would be to look for a suitable Cave in game, copy it and transfer that copy to another location....I have found a few Caves that have caught my interest:

Druadach Redoubt

Eldergleam Sanctuary (or at least a part of)

Moss Mother Cavern

What I really want is something with water...preferably running water....doesn't need to be brimming or overflowing with plants, I would like to be able to green it up at least to a degree myself...adding lots of plants, flowers, bugs, etc...needs to be tall enough to take a few trees.... very wild, natural kind of home....In fact am hoping to eventually add a friendly Spriggan and a friendly small Wolf Pack to it....aside from the usual living and crafting clutter.

Does anyone have any other Cave suggestions they think may be good for a home like this?

I wish you luck in cave home building. I was looking at your present choices. If the Eldergleam appeals to you, maybe the space of Fallowstone Cave would also be of interest. You could probably close off the rest of the place and reside in the big main cavern. If you are looking for something smaller--I always thought Bloated Man's Grotto was pretty cool. And even smaller but with a large pool is Ravenscar Hollow. Do let us know what you eventually decide to do! Cave hunting, how awesome is that!

Have a look at Shadowgreen Cavern near Solitude, currently my favorite - it's tall, has space for trees, has running water and is quite an interesting design.

I think I know that one....Noster's Helmet usually?....I am quite sure it's in my Dovahkin's quest log at the moment at Shadowgreen....I will go take a good look, thank you OakRain....

I tried making a home out of Shadowgreen, Its a bit difficult for a starter, and if you don't have that good of a computer it can kinda make you lag... but if you do happen to make it into a home and it doesn't lag, i'll be willing to try it out.

Do you have any idea why it lagged for you?....And what made it difficult?...Thank you for the offer.... ...I had better let you know though, that whichever cave I eventually choose, the copy I make will be located in the wilds of the Reach.

I have checked out Fallowstone Cave and Lost Prospect Mine and a variety of other random Caves I stumble across in my Dovahkin's travels....He is currently on his way to Ravenscar Hollow, Shadowgreen and Broken Oar Grotto.....So far I have found aspects I prefer in Fallowstone over Eldergleam and vice versa....Fallowstone has a better water way set up for what I have planned, but Eldergleam has a better defensive layout.....Lost Prospect Mine is unfortunately too small for everything I want to pack in....Funny, I originally wanted something small, but as the list of ideas has grown, so too has the size of the space I need....there are in fact some rather nice small caves in Skyrim....two I have found so far are Clearspring Tarn and Greywinter Watch.....As for what I want to fit in, I thought maybe I should share this to give a better idea of what kind of size I would need:

1/ Bathing opportunity....thus the water.

2/ Fish....Alchemy

3/ Wood Chopping Block

4/ Alchemy Table

5/ Work Bench

6/ Grind Stone

7/ Forge....the camp style

8/ Smelter....still unsure about this one

9/ Bed....Forsworn style...though am hoping to double it up and use a large Bear pelt.

10/ Weapons Racks....enough for a collection of Bows

11/ Mannequins (3)

12/ Book Case (2)

13/ Fire Pit (cooking)

14/ Dragon Priests Busts

15/ Hircine Shrine

16/ Small number of Chests and a chest of Drawers

17/ Tanning Rack

18/ Friendly Spriggan

19/ Small friendly Wolf Pack

20/ Lots of Alchemy Plants and Bugs....found a resource mod that offers Morrowind and Oblivion plants....it makes sense to me that such plants could be grown in a controlled environment...aka the cave.

21/ I found a Modder's resource mod too that offers Display Cases, Alchemy Jars and Alchemy Chests.

Personally, I fell in love with Fallowstone cave the first time I stepped inside of it. I believe I said to myself that I wanted to live there. (I didn't come here and suggest it for two reasons: I thought you wanted something small, and because I didn't want someone living in 'my' cave :P ) I still love it, but I think it's a bit large to use the whole thing as a home. It would be more like you made a camp inside it... unless I suppose you used the upper portion as a home and turned the entire bottom into your own fields of alchemy plants and foodstuffs, livestock, what have you. You could put all your furniture in the back sections, where it's smaller and more homey, put your smelter and tanning stuff out in the front, and put your friendly wildlife in the bottom (if you know what I mean by 'front', 'back', and 'bottom'...)

Wherever you end up making your home, just keep your chopping block out of sight of your friendly Spriggan, I don't think she'd like that too much :P
