EdgeUK90 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Hello fellow gamer guys n gals! My purpose here on nexus mods is mainly to experiment & create in the Fallout 4 world - I am in the process of building a new rig suitable for my requirements before I go crazy mod making! About me? Well my gaming modification experience comes from many moons ago - from the Older GTA worlds! (GTAIII, VC & SA), My previous nametag on GTA Forums was ' Monitor57 ' - I made many of map & Vehicle additions to all 3 platforms aswell as holding my own total conversion project that was supposed to land on the GTA SA engine - however this never got finished as well.. life gets in the way it was time for me to enter the big wild world! I have extensive knowledge in modelling with 3DS Max mainly, although I know many more versions have been released since - I have some catching up to do!! ---- So let me ask my fellow gamer's & Nexus's here - Has there been any large changes to the way most models are made for games now? Is it mostly spline & filling work as the detail required now is much higher? I used to manually make my models from scratch, creating my first poly and then selecting a side and duplicating from that direction. I do not have any friends who do this kind of work, or any from my olden days i have merely lost contact with because of the large gap out - Im hoping this community with its vast network of gamer's & developers can help get me back on track so I may contribute  Dont have any photos of my work to hand ( I am currently at work! ). Many thanks peeps, and once again - Hello!! From EdgeUK90
Oblivionaddicted Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Welcome. I also own GTA 3 VC & SA and created mods for them but I never created any model nor used 3DS Max.
EdgeUK90 Posted October 24, 2019 Author Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) Thank you, Yes I started on Zmodeler - but I changed over to 3ds max very early on as it was the program which the developers used to make the game & back in those days, Zmodeler was extremely basic with limited functions (I wouldnt know if this has changed since). I used to run the GTA - SA : LC II mod which was a port of GTAIII's liberty city into GTA SA engine & Then modified / upgraded. I was mostly doing the entire project on my own (I was largely involed with the original port of liberty city & then was given the reigns when the mod leader went a seperate way, But i wanted to re-create the city and others felt this wasnt true to the mod's original principle's - so I left and created my own spin on it) - the website is still up at www.gtasalc2.weebly.com Im buzzing actually, I cant wait to get back stuck in! The considerably higher detail requirements of today have me on my back foot abit, but im sure I will adjust with some new modeling techniques maybe. Some fast track tutorials for this would be very helpful if anybody knows of good one's  - Edge. Edited October 24, 2019 by EdgeUK90
