tavtav
If it isn't there already, you'll just have to make it yourself. Some mods come with it, I think. Just go to your fallout3 directory, right click, and choose new text file. The only text in there should be the location of the files you want to use from the mods. Make sure to use / instead of \ though. Example: data/textures/armor/powerarmor/powerarmorbody.dds Just click save, and you should be good to go. :) Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm still learning this stuff too hehe
VandenPlause
ArchiveInvalidation.txt goes in the main install directory for Fallout3? bInvalidateOlderFile=1 is changed in My Documents\My Games\Fallout3? Then it's just a matter of updating the ArchiveInvalidation.txt with the appropriate texture replacements, and installing the replaced textures in the correct paths correct? dondivad
So does ArchiveInvalidation go in the Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3 , or in Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3/Data ?

Zumbs
FYI, ArchiveInvalidation.txt is used to tell the game that it should use newer versions of the textures, whose paths are specified in the file. You may want to look into BSA-redirection as a more permanent solution, but I'm not sure that it works in Fallout 3. If it isn't there already, you'll just have to make it yourself. Some mods come with it, I think. Just go to your fallout3 directory, right click, and choose new text file. The only text in there should be the location of the files you want to use from the mods. Make sure to use / instead of \ though.I would like to add, that if you already have an ArchiveInvalidation.txt, you should not overwrite it with a new one. You should add the entries to the old ArchiveInvalidation.txt.
Guest
I have a question. I made the ArchiveInvalidation.txt and added a few lines for some texture/sound mods. One of the lines looks like this: textures/Weapons/1handpistol/1stperson10mmpistol_n.dds As you've said, it points to the place where the modded files are. But, if I unpack the mod into fallout 3, that's not where the files will be. Because, I can't even see/find a map called textures. Am I missing something, somehow ? I've tried this mod for example: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=160 It has a map, 10mm pistol v2, then in that map there's a data map, the data map contains a sound and a texture map, which both contains LOTS more maps, which finaly have the .mds or .wav files in them. How am I supposed to proceed ?

Copy and paste that into your Fallout 3 directory.3. Add the relevant lines to your ArchiveInvalidation.txt4. Make sure bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 is set to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 in your ini which will be in MyDocuments/MyGames/Fallout3 You should be good to go. Guest
Kudos to you mate. The trick is to take the sound and textures maps out of the 10mm pistol V2 map, and place those in your fallout 3 data map. If you directly throw the 10mm pistol V2 map into the data map, it won't work ! Those mods are cool, guns look better and sound a lot better too ! Just awesome, I can't wait to see what people come up with when they release the G.E.C.K. :)
