lesma666 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Is there a way to make some scripts to add Phong Lightning on weapons, models.... i just tried create a phong .dss file to my Hunting rifle reskin and renamed it to huntingrifle_p.dss, but is doens't work :/ Phong lightning make the specular more realistic and you can make only reflect certain areas of the texture, like the metal part of a gun. Sorry for my bad english, i'm brazilian :P
mimezu Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I am not sure of what I will say here, but with my experimentations it seems that the specular map is in fact the alpha channel inside the normal map (_n file).Black is no specular at all, while white is full specular. For example look for urban/maildropbox01_n.dds and urban/maildropbox01.ddsIf you compare the _n alpha channel with the speculars in game for this object, this seems to work :)

Valaros Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Phong is a shading method, so I doubt it can be added without changing the engine.
