A Few Questions

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone with more experience than me here could tell me whether it's possible to change a weapon's base/max level of damage and if you can change the accuracy penalty different cover types apply.

Thanks for your time.

1. Yes, change the Damage value of the weapon. See the DefaultGameCore.ini & First Steps thread for more details.

2. Not yet. We can access the game scripts & decipher the mechanic, but currently have no way to override/inject a replacement mechanic.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've been reading the thread a bit and I decided to try out this method:

1. Mod DefaultGameCore.ini (it is the same inside exe) to whatever you like.

2. Open XComGame.exe inside Resource Hacker.

3. Find RCdata/1020/1033 in left section.

4. Right click 1033 and select "Replace Resource". You will see a new window.

5. Click button "Open file with new resource...", which you will see on new window.

6. Find file, which you modded before and select it.

7. Now fill three text boxes with such values:

Resource type: RCDATA

Resource name: 1020

Resource language: 1033

8. Click "Replace" button. You should see modded content to the right. If not, then something went wrong.

9. Save file using File -> Save and now game is modded.

listed there, just to make some personal changes for myself. I don't think I'm using the right program though. I downloaded XN Resource Editor and then pointed into the binaries/win32/xcom.exe there but I can't find any 1033 folder, only 1010/1020/1030/1040, and I have no replace resource option.

Any tips?

Edit: Scratch that. Just actually took a look at the mod patcher thread. Figured that was just something that made your changes distributable.
