Thanks a lot. I hope the new video card solves the hang up problem. I tried turning off almost all the mods I have added to it and it still kept freezing up so the only thing it can be is the video card. Right?

I'm not a computer expert, don't even have an A+ cert (but unfortunately I end up being the sucker stuck with all my friends computer problems), so I'd check on some of the more tech related forums. I mean you could have some glitchy ram, a flaky motherboard, cput etc. Does it *only* happen in FONV or does it also happen in any software that puts a serious load on your pc?

You can simulate a pretty decent workload on the cpu/memory with prime95, used to be the overclockers "burn in" program of choice. You can probably *underclock* your vid card (MSI had a free one, called afterburner) to help to reduce the load on your video subsystem and see if that helps stability. Stuff like that.... basically your trying to isolate a variable

It only happenes in FONV which is why I was thinking it was a mod causing it. My Mobo and ram are new. My cpu is the Phenom II 980 BE but I have had it for about a year. I have the Asus Crosshair V Formula/Thunderbird motherboard and 16 gigs of Kingston HyperX ram.

If it only happens in FONV, not in other more recent games, I'd say it's not a hardware problem at all......all software. I mean NV is a pretty old game, it doesn't stress the hardware nearly as much as current fps's.

Yeah it started doing this when I started adding mods to the game, but I don't know which one it is that's causing the problem. Got the Radeon HD7770 2Gb video card in yesterday so I will see how it goes. If it stops freezing up then it would mean my old video card could have been getting ready to go out.
