adzig8
Hey everyone, most of these topics are the same and trust me I've done a bit of research and troubleshooting already dealing with my problem. I'm not just coming in here and throwing up my mod list expecting someone to figure it all out for me. Long story short, my heavily modded Skyrim is constantly freezing at random times throughout my play sessions. Here are the list of things I've tried so far to attempt fixing this problem: -Clean Re-install of the game + mods (several times)-Clean Re-install of latest NVIDIA Drivers-BOSS Load Order my mods-WryeBash Bash Patch my mods-Lower in-game visual settings-Remove mods one by one to figure out the problem (very tedious, lead to little results)-I even attempted to manually install every mod rather than using NMM This has all been pretty futile, as nothing I've done has solved my dilemma. Skyrim is one of my favorite games, and I used to be able to play it just fine with mods but lately it's just been freezing over and over again making it unplayable. I really can't play it without mods, since I've already beat Vanilla skyrim completely... so I'm really hoping someone can help me out here. The biggest question I have... is there a way to pinpoint just what exactly is causing the game to freeze... for example log files? I have enabled logging in skyrim but I can't for the life of me figure out how to read the Papyrus Log files. They are too jumbled and confusing for me to understand which lines are detailing what caused the game to crash. Can anyone make sense of those log files for me? My specs: (Even though I really don't think this matters. I can run Vanilla Skyrim just fine, and other games just fine. I really don't think it's my hardware, I think it has something to do with one of the mods causing my game to freeze)Operating System- Windows 7 UltimateProcessor- Intel i5 2500k CPU 3.30 GHzMemory- 4GBSystem Type- 64 bit OSDisplay- Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti BOSS List:Recognised Skyrim.esm ActiveUpdate.esm ActiveContains dirty edits: 50 ITM, 1 UDR records. I'm not sure if that's what could be causing the freezing but I tried to follow the tutorials about cleaning those files and I was completely lost. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure that those files were dirty even after I re-installed the game completely which was confusing to me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out here guys I really want to play Skyrim again without all the drama.
acidzebra
The "dirty edits" in official skyrim DLC can be ignored. But have you read your BOSS logs? You've got a massive amount of conflicts and incompatibilities. Run BOSS, read the logs, and act on the warnings and errors.I can see 4 or 5 fatal errors just glancing at it. "Incompatible with" means "do not run these two mods at the same time". Edited October 21, 2012 by acidzebra
adzig8
I read the BOSS logs and have made adjustments that it suggested. Maybe I'm overlooking something? Could you list the fatal errors you're noticing?

adzig8
Ok, I'm making the adjustments necessary and I'm going to play a little bit and see if the freezing stops. Thank you for pointing out the obvious to me... I apologize but I do appreciate the help. Hopefully this stops the freezing.

acidzebra
Well, you've taken the first steps on the long and wonderful journey of creating a stable and playable modded skyrim. I highly recommend after removing all those mods you go to a small interior cell (like a player home), open the console and type "show timescale". Note this number it returns. Then type "set timescale to 50000", close the console, then wait for a minute or two, then open again and type "set timescale to [number you wrote down]". Then use the in-game wait or sleep function and sleep for 24 hours. Then save your game and exit. Start skyrim again, and load your save. You now have a somewhat clean save. (tip - removing mods works best if you make a save after you enter this small cell, then exit skyrim, remove mod, load skyrim, then do the above waiting thing - you never know what background scripts and whatnot may still be running)Exit the building, and run around for a bit. Is it more stable now? Next, you probably should head over to the Skyrim Redone page, it's a great mod, I use it too, but it is fairly picky about load order. Read the README. Because BOSS will just dump every mod it doesn't know about at the bottom of the load order. This may not be optimal. You should also probably read the UFO page, same story. You also appear to be running UNP, I don't run that stuff so I don't really know, but one of your mods saysSweet&Sexy Lingerie.esp ActiveRequires: CBBEbut is that installed? I'm only vaguely aware of both. And are you ACTUALLY ADDING MODS TO AN ALREADY UNSTABLE INSTALL? And are you sure you've installed the unofficial dawnguard patch?http://skyrim.nexusm...com/mods/23491/ Finally, is your PC up to the task of running the high-res texture mods? Have you been messing with skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini? What have you changed? Questions, questions ;) Edited October 21, 2012 by acidzebra
chaospearl
A few more things I noticed: ScenicCarriages is not compatible with Dawnguard. You'll have to ditch one of the two. You have bouncy bodices for UNP, Barbarian Armor for UNP, and Sweet Sexy Lingerie for CBBE. You cannot have both CBBE and UNP at the same time, they're two different body mods. You have Headbomb's Weightless Potions, Lightweight Potions, and Half Weight Potions all at the same time. Pick just ONE. Same with the Headbomb's Food esps. Pick one, lose the other three. That's just what I see off the top of my head. I would bet money there are other totally incompatible mods in there too. Just the fact that you said you had read the BOSS logs and made the adjustments, but you very obviously had not, makes me think you haven't done any of the other stuff either. Your mod list is still a huge incompatible mess. That makes it important to figure out exactly which ones are conflicting. You stated that you tried removing mods one by one and had "very little result" ... what was the very little result? Did you just give up halfway through and not want to do it anymore? Unfortunately, there is no choice. That is usually a surefire way to figure out which mod(s) is causing an issue. Yes, it is tedious, but there really isn't an easy way. You can make it easier on yourself than doing the one... at... a.... time... method, though. Start with a vanilla game. No mods. Does it freeze? If no, then you know this is a mod issue. Add back in about half of your mods. Does it freeze? Remove the mods you just added. Add back in the OTHER half. Does it freeze? If it froze up with only one of the chunks of mods, then your problem is somewhere in one of those mods. Start the whole process again, but this time just use two halves of the chunk of mods that caused the problem. Put aside all the others for now. Essentially add them a bunch at a time and when the freezes start, then you try again but this time only add half of that bunch, and so on, narrowing it down until you find the issue. It's quicker than one-by-one. If it froze up with both totally different sets of mods, it's more likely to be that you're simply running more mods than your system can handle. Get rid of some of the more intensive ones. Either way, you shouldn't be starting with a load of mods and removing them one by one. Start with an unmodded game and add them one by one until the problem crops up.
