player home mods - looking for recommendations

I've been using Dovahkiin Hideout so far (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12553) which is great, almost perfect actually, but apparantly it's not being updated anymore and the display area is too small for my taste. I need more mannequins/display area and a bigger library for books. I'd also like to be able to put other things on display.

I really loved Armory Lab for Oblivion (http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/3791) and buyable Ghorak Manor for Morrowind.

Any recommendations?

The first time I played skyrim I hung around breezehome too much. Once I bought the other player houses I began to move my stuff into them and feel more comfortable with them. the only major problems I had with player homes was proudspire manor and all the bugs that come with it. The cobwebs that won't go away, the housecarl bedroom that has to be fixed with the console and the other minor things that eventually require the use of the console to fix. Thankfully there are some mods that just fix the bugs for proudspire manor. That house is probably the only other house besides breezehome that doesn't have those bugged display cases where you put something in and arrange it just right, then come back later and it is all on the floor in front of the display case. I am thinking about getting hearthfire but only if it works with npcguard correctly too. I wanna get those plots of land in minor holds... would be nice to see a mod that slays dragons for you while your gone and while you are living there like, some guard or something is outside manning a floor mounted crossbow contraption with magic dragon killing bolts loaded. So when the dragon flies overhead the guard shoots him down in one shot. You just have to go to the dragon and claim the soul or the crossbow contraption can store it for you to use later on. Even better would be a minor hold upgraded with a perimeter of these contraptions on the upper levels of guard towers and walkways that just shoot the dragon down no soul claiming to do the dragon just goes down and bursts into flames. That would be a house in a minor hold to live in! burning dragons falling out of the sky and town npc activities not interrupted.

You really need to check out Levelers Tower. It has to be experienced to be believed. The mod author has been working on this for over 8 months, using mostly his own ideas, but also accepting the best ideas from the community. It is found under the cheats and god items category, but you don't have to use the cheats to enjoy it. There is so much to see, including large display rooms and auto sorters. It's as sophisticated as a small city. It also has a pumpkin by the front door. 'Tis the season! :)

  • 5 months later...

I just started a new game so I'm bumping this topic.

I checked out Levelers Tower when you first recommended it and I liked some parts of it but I don't like the cheating aspects. I really just want something clean, clear and empty to put my stuff in. I really liked the alchemy sorting and such though. anything close to this without cheats?

I stumbled across "Build Your Own Home" last year and I love it.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18480

It's customizable, so you can decide how many add-ons you have and if you have furniture or not. It starts off with just a big empty room, but if you trick it out it has specific containers for everything: armor, weapons, ingredients, ingots, ore, jewelry, etc.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22791 Home Construction and Decoration

with

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13586 Decorator Assistant (I recommend the SKSE version) and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25068 to move any static furniture or item

and

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8635 for armor display

Of course http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29275 isn't too bad a mod for taking on a variety of homes

I also use http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9935 as there are some unique items that can be built that the above mods don't have.

thanks for your suggestions.

I decided to go with Leveler's tower. I don't like the cheats but will ignore them and it would have been nice if the display area was bigger, but it has some great other features no other mods have.
