Scarecrow1983
A few weeks ago I saw the Interesting NPC's mod and thought, "Very cool!". It gave me an idea... it would require a lot of work and collaboration but I think the community is active and interested enough to pull it off. Why not give each NPC in the game there own individual voice? Ever wonder why Jarl Balgruuf, Alvor, Eorlund Grey-Mane and dozens of other NPCs (both named and un-named-- guards in particular...) all have the same voice? It would make the game sound much more diversified, not to mention open up TONS of opportunities for future mods like: New cities and towns, without them seeming out of place.Follower NPCs interacting with each other, not just you. (if possible?)Additional user-generated quests and added dialogue without the awkward "silent movie" thing or same old crappy static interactions.Custom lines of dialogue without the NPC suddenly being seemingly telepathic. And lots more! Gone would be the days of the city guards having the same 3 guys and 1 woman voice EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! It would be a matter of having dozens of individuals voice the same lines of dialogue the guards currently use. You could walk through a city and hear so many different voices from individual NPCs. I can just about remember every line of dialogue the guards use when I walk through Whiterun now and I've only been playing this game for a couple of months. Well that's it really. That's all I got... do with it what you will. Have a good evening Nexus community :D
Cpolsonb
Woah, what you're describing is WAY too much content to ever be realistic. Even just think of the file size, Interesting NPCs is already 0.75GB for 77 voiced NPCs. Think of how spread thin those 77 NPCs are, and that there are thousands of individuals in Skyrim, including all the guards in every town and city and every inn patron and shop keeper. You'd be looking at 40GB plus. I love you enthusiasm, but why not focus on one component at a time, like a "custom voiced followers" or "custom voiced guards" overhaul. mormszzz
lol skyrim is just 12gb for me and your saying the mod will be 40 gb 0.75 is a small size lol
dueldragon
Maybe you should think smaller, maybe someone can do a voice overhaul for all important/relevant ( quest givers etc') NPCs in the game (jarls, followers, quest npcs that use the same voice as all male and female characters)
faffman
Not to mention everyone who participated would need access to good recording gear, as well as the knowledge to use said gear properly, or there would be some NPCs with horrible in-built mic quality voices. Hallgarth
You want to find something like a thousand people (less if people can do multiple voices), who all have good equipment and can act and sound like they belong in Skyrim. I'll take 77 professionally edited NPC's any day over what will most likely end up sounding inconsistent and shoddy. Now re-recording key NPC's that don't have unique voices and giving them a Unique voice would be doable. Giving people such as Balgruuf and Elisif and maybe the Housecarls unique voices would be an interesting idea, you could even use it to expand on them, make the Housecarls more like F4 followers with extra dialogue. But not for every named NPC.
