[LE] Need help modifying lighting in player homes

I am attempting to reduce the lighting level in my houses, both player built Hearthfire homes and the static ones you can buy.

I have searched the Creation Kit and found information that implys what I want to do should be possible but the controls do not seem to have the expected effect.

  • Holding "S" and dragging the mouse will change the scale of a light, that is shrinking or enlarging the area of effect.
  • Holding "CTRL + ALT + S" and dragging the mouse will increase/decrease the brightness of the light.

Neither of these are doing what they are advertised to do, holding S and dragging only rotates the bounding box around the light.

CTRL + ALT + S only seems to rotate the direction the hemisphere is facing with no effect on brightness values.

I have set all the lights to Initially Disabled and still have too much light for the scene I am trying to create.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am running OldRim with all DLCs + hearthfireextended.esp,

improvedHearthfireLighting.esp, Surreal Lighting.esp

You also need to change the cell's "Lighting Template".

Before doing any editing to the "Lights" first edit the cell's "Lighting Template" and check the global lighting wherever the lights don't cast/hit (in dark areas of the cell), then according to what your preferences might be adjust the light's range and intensity.

"S" & "CTRL + ALT + S" they do work and they are the main tool for individual light edits, but in a very bright cell those changes might not be very noticeable.

* Also in order to be able to see those changes/edits you need to make your own esp and load that esp before you start playing.

Ya only use the sizer thing if your lights are touching each other to much and creating a flicker. You can see the light radius with L ...
In the light itself (after you make a copy to use in your mod) will have settings you can turn down (light data tab). Also keep in mind you can only have

so many lights in the same area ... after that they will flicker or turn off and on depending on your proximity. Best to stay under that number.

Some lights take up more of that "pool" than others ... aka: Omni Lights.
