Unlinking player camera and mouse? (VorpX-related)

I've been toying with VorpX for a little while and I'm wondering if there's a way to un-link the player camera from mouse controls via modding. In its current state, VorpX maps the headtracking data to the mouse position. The end result would be to look in one direction but aim in another. What code / considerations would be necessary to accomplish this?

 

(I've been contemplating similar problems with Fallout 3, Oblivion, New Vegas)
