blaineh
Let's say I would want to create a custom race, f. ex. a dwarf. How would I make the model for it? I'm guessing I would need to open and edit malebody_1.nif to proper size (to reduce the height)? Are there any tutorials doing just that, I can't find anything helpful. I really want to know how to change that height for my new race model, and if I manage to do that, do I have to make armor and clothes that would fit the smaller body of that said dwarf? I have nifskope, 3ds max and blender. Thanks! Edited October 22, 2012 by blaineh
Oubliette
I'd suggest first looking at a mod that uses all custom assets to get an idea of folder structure and how the thing is set up. For height it might actually be better to modify the skeleton of the male model rather than modifying the model itself - you'd still need a unique folder structure for that though or all races in the game would end up having your new races diminutive height. You'll also want to look into how to create a custom race properly - there's a donwloadable tutorial on the Skyrim Nexus that features that information as well as including some vital files you'll need like the "Race Compatability Fix.esm" which is vital for all new and unique races. After that - lots of trial and error and politely asking modders who've done it before how they did one aspect or other that you're having problems with. Good luck. Thanks, I've done most of the things you listed, learning a lot every moment. Could you elaborate a little further about those skeletons, how they differ from normal models etc.
