RazorsharpLT
Hey, i just wondered, i did a mission where i have to save a UN official, who is a general, and he has some soldiers in badass armor escorting himI was just wondering i you can import that armor, or that model, or heck the soldier in to the regular Xcom recruits, might be as simple as a change of variables, but could include editing the entire model. Thank you for reading!!!
sayianianian
Looks cool - seems like it might be a good swap for the generic starting armor.
FlyingHigh10000000
Might be possible if those models have animations for all of the weapons, along with taking cover/running, navigating the terrain, etc. Unlikely, though, since they don't even shoot at the enemies, and actually disappear completely once you get to the VIP, from what I can see. Rigging those models properly would take a decent amount of skill, and a lot more than a picture of the thing.
RazorsharpLT
Well, they do have the standard "take cover" and "Dig in" animations, as the VIP has the same animations and model as them. So, if you can control the VIP, and he has standard running/taking cover animations, i think it might not be that hard to make them wield an assault rifle. I could be wrong, though. BGBailen
Hmmmmm, seems to me the "best" option to accomplish this would be to modify the texture to properly wrap around default soldier armor, then replace the texture in the upk. Still a lot of work, no short-cuts and a good amount of talent needed, but not nearly enough as creating all new anims for a model. Though, the idea's out there now. Maybe it'll be done, one way or another. Texture mods are already out there, and more are surely on the way. I wouldn't be surprised if someone did just this.........or maybe you'll find an even better texture in a couple days here on the nexus. There's already a couple nice re-textures of soldier armor up, just check back regularly. Edited October 28, 2012 by BGBailen
RazorsharpLT
Well, i checked the texture mods, they're awesome. Though i still want THAT soldier, because his model is so much more badass than that of the standard Xcom unit. Here's another pic Well, the model isn't so different from the regular xcom unit (in terms of mass) So i think the textures could easily be ported over. fys
Yeah, it’s a shame that our own guys must run around like fancy-colored power rangers and these army dudes in beautiful digital camo don’t know how to fight at all.
RazorsharpLT
Yeah, it’s a shame that our own guys must run around like fancy-colored power rangers and these army dudes in beautiful digital camo don’t know how to fight at all.Yep, agreed... Well, for now, a skin like that would suffice, but it would be amazing if that model could be made playable in any way.
RazorsharpLT
So, any idea when this mighty task might become a posibility? The camo they wear would suffice for now, IF anyone can import their textures instead of vanilla body armor
Gurluas
A savegame editor would probably make you able to add such a soldier to your squad.
